My Past is Just Prologue (Janet and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 185

Chapter 185 What Is Wrong With Letting Her Wait?
The next day, Mathilda took Coral to the Longfellow Group early in the morning, but they were stopped by the security guard when they had just arrived downstairs.
“Don’t you know me? How dare you get in my way?” Mathilda’s face sank. It seemed that she still thought that she had the highest authority in the company.
Coral also rolled her eyes at the security guard and sneered, “You son of a bitch! Look, this is my mother, Mr. Doherty’s wife, Janet’s aunt!! am Janet’s cousin! How dare you stop us?”
The security guard ignored them and said in a businesslike manner. “I’m just following orders. If any visitors come, I need to inform the boss first. Please wait a moment.”
After saying that, the security guard dialed the phone to ask the higher-ups for instructions.
After Marco received the call, he immediately informed Janet.
“Ms. Longfellow, Mathilda and Coral are here.”
Janet knew the purpose of their visit. She sneered and stood up to stretch her muscles.
“Let them wait.”
The whole family was hypocritical. Janet didn’t care about Conrad, but Mathilda was her aunt. Judging from Mathilda’s previous behavior. she was most likely aware of how Janet’s father and brother died.
Janet wondered whether Mathilda was stupid enough to entertain the illusion that Janet would show respect to her.
Marco repeated Janet’s words to the security guard downstairs. No one would be allowed to enter the building.
Mathilda did not expect that the Longfellow Group, which had already become her and Conrad’s possession, now refused her to enter the
door.
She clenched her fists. In the end, she did not directly make a fuss but maintained her dignity.
But Coral was different. She knew that it was Janet who was making trouble. Coral immediately flew into a rage. She pointed at the security guard and cursed, “You are just a dog! What benefits did Janet give you to make you so obedient? I’ll go in anyway!”
After that, Coral pushed the security guard away and was about to rush in.
When someone stopped her, she abused them for harassing her, attracting the attention of the past employees.
Seeing that her daughter was at a disadvantage, Mathilda ignored her public image and quickly went up to help Coral
As they quarreled, a sudden voice interrupted them.
*Ms. Longfellow said that anyone who dares to cause trouble must be reported to the police,” Marco came out of the hall on the first floor with no expression and said to the security guard.
Seeing this, Mathilda quickly stopped and pulled Coral to calm her down.
Mathilda tidied up her appearance and looked at Marco. She said to Marco arrogantly, “I want to see Janet, my niece. Is there a problem?”
‘Ms. Longfellow is very busy and has no time to see you.” Marco said firmly.
Mathilda’s face instantly darkened. She said angrily, “Ask Janet to tell me personally!”
At this time. Janet’s instructions came through Marco’s headphones.
“Enough. Let them come in.”
Marco got the order, stepped aside, and said, “Ms. Longfellow is waiting for you.”
Mathilda sneered. She knew that it was impossible for Janet not to see her!

As they quarreled, a sudden voice interrupted them.
“Ms. Longfellow said that anyone who dares to cause trouble must be reported to the police.” Marco came out of the hall on the first floor with no expression and said to the security guard.

Marco got the order, stepped aside, and said, “Ms. Longfellow is waiting for you.”
Mathilda sneered. She knew that it was impossible for Janet not to see her!
However, when she and Coral sat in the reception room. Janet did not appear. They waited for another hour before Janet pushed the door
open and entered.
As soon as she entered, she saw that Mathilda was angry. The angrier she was, the happier Janet felt.
What was wrong with letting her wait?
Janet’s father and brother lost their lives!
“Alas, I was too engrossed in my work. I forgot that my aunt and cousin were still waiting for me. I’m sorry.”
Janet said this, but there was no trace of apology in her words. She looked at Mathilda and Coral with a smile.
Before Mathilda could speak, Coral could not sit still. She suddenly stood up and scolded Janet “You bastard! My father has worked hard
for the Longfellow Group for so many years. How can you demote him randomly? We are your relatives!”
Hearing this, Janet sneered and asked, “What? Am I to blame? What did Conrad do? Mathilda, if I investigate it carefully, do you think that
you still have a chance to sit here and argue with me?”
These words were of course referring to the matter of Conrad’s investment project.
Mathilda understood the deep meaning in Janet’s words and quickly asked Coral to shut up. If they continued to speak like this, Mathilda
was afraid that Janet would dig deeper into the inside story.
“Why? Mom! What is Janet…”
Mathilda gave Coral a waming look, then turned to Janet, changed to a smile, and said eamestly. “Janet, your uncle was demoted all of a sudden. Although you are the chairman of the Longfellow Group, you can’t demote him randomly. After all he is your uncle. Can you….”
“No.” Janet didn’t wait for Mathilda to finish speaking and refused without hesitation.
Did Mathilda still think that Janet was a little girl who was easy to deceive?
Mathilda obviously didn’t expect Janet to be so decisive. Her smile froze on her face.
“Conrad was so stubborn this time and almost caused a loss to the company. He insisted on advancing the investment project. I have every reason to suspect that he colluded with outsiders and planned to hollow out the Longfellow Group. Mathilda, what do you think?”
