My Past is Just Prologue (Janet and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 226

Chapter 226 Don’t Come To Embarrass Yourself Again

Janet opened her eyes abruptly, breathing heavily.

The nightmare of the past lingered. At this moment, Janet couldn’t distinguish between reality and dreams.

Hearing the persistent knocking on the door, Janet finally became lucid. She put on her clothes and went

downstairs.

Janet opened the door and saw Nathaniel.

Janet’s face darkened immediately. It made her furious to see the person in her nightmare.

She gritted her teeth and asked coldly, “What are you doing here?”

Nathaniel’s hair was a little messy, and he was in casual clothes. It was very different from his usual

appearance.

The hair in front of his forehead covered Nathaniel’s dark eyes, and he was holding a lit cigarette.

The tip of the cigarette was gleaming. The scarlet light was vague, just like Nathaniel’s gaze. It was dim and

yet bright.

It was like a torch in the wilderness, and it could burn the whole area in an instant.

Looking at Janet’s cold and indignant face, Nathaniel suddenly felt relaxed.

Nathaniel found that compared to Janet’s indifference, he was more willing to let Janet look at him like this.

It made him feel that Janet had feelings for him.

Nathaniel felt a little relieved. He threw the cigarette butt to his feet and extinguished it.

He didn’t care about cleanliness.

Anyway, this is Nigel’s courtyard, Nathaniel snorted in his heart.

Janet glared at him and wanted to close the door, but Nathaniel held it.

“What are you doing?”

Nathaniel looked at the dark room behind her and sneered, “What? Nigel actually let you answer the door alone at midnight? What if it was a bad guy and he took you away?”

Janet felt Nathaniel was crazy. She kept her last bit of composure and didn’t roll her eyes. Janet sneered, “Mr. Webster, don’t you feel that you are too nosy?

“Or are you so self-centered that you think that everyone in the house should come to welcome you?”

Nathaniel sneered, “Janet, don’t change the topic. I was saying that Nigel wasn’t concerned about your safety. Or have you gotten used to groveling to curry favor with men so that you think there is no problem with him asking you to answer the door alone?”

These words were very hurtful.

Janet clenched her fists. She narrowed her eyes and warned coldly, “I advise you to get lost before I get angry. Otherwise, you will be sorry!”

“I haven’t said what I’ve got to say!” Nathaniel held the door in frustration, looking at Janet gloomily. “My water pipe is leaking. I can’t sleep, so I want to stay here for the night.”

Janet was about to burst into laughter, and she said sarcastically, “What? Mr. Webster, don’t you have the -money to stay in a hotel? Do you need me to give you a little? Mr. Webster, don’t you know what our

relationship is? Mr. Webster, how many times do I have to say it before you can remember? We are divorced. You have nothing to do with me. Mr. Webster, is there something wrong with your ears?”

Hearing this, Nathaniel became angrier.

He came over on a whim. Now that the cold wind cooled him down and he heard Janet’s harsh words, Nathaniel realized something.

What am I doing?

It’s as if… I have fallen in love with Janet!

Nathaniel clenched his fists.

The sharp pain in the wound made Nathaniel more lucid, and he gazed at Janet seriously for a long time.

Seeing the strange look on Nathaniel’s face, Janet frowned.

Just as she was about to say something, Nathaniel suddenly asked, “Janet, you said that you loved me before. Were you joking?”

Janet blinked her eyes, which were beautiful. She looked calm, but she was nervous in her heart.

Nathaniel continued, “Your love is really cheap.”

You gave it to someone else casually, yet I have been troubled by the loss.
