Chapter 368 The Past
Marvin was startled, “Jill?!”
Donahue also put down the coffee cup in his hand, and stared at Janet, observing her state.
Janet was no different from when she left the venue, her makeup and hair were not messed up, and she still looked exquisite and beautiful.
But the stillness in those eyes made her look a little indescribably lifeless.
Marvin felt distressed and followed her step by step.
“Janet, are you okay?”
Janet looked at the two brothers.
After a long time, a smile was on the corner of the bright red lips, stiff and
tired.
“It’s okay. Donahue, and Marvin, thanks for waiting for me. I’m tired. I’ll go up to rest first. Please help yourself.”
After speaking, Janet went straight up the stairs.
Donahue sighed silently.
Marvin’s heart tightened instantly, and he quickly followed the pace of Janet.
“Jill, it’s still early, why don’t you chat with us for a while before going to bed?”
Marvin showed a bright smile and put his arms around Janet’s shoulders, “It’s been a long time since we got together, otherwise I’ll call Beacher back, so we can have a good get–together?”
Janet could hardly maintain her smile, but she didn’t want Marvin to worry about herself, so she could only hold her lips and say in a low voice, “It’s all good. I’ll listen to you.”
Marvin took Janet and sat down on the sofa in the living room. He ignored Janet’s indifferent attitude and chatted about the past excitedly.
“I just talked with Donahue about my childhood.”
“Do you remember when I climbed a persimmon tree as a child? I didn’t stand firm, fell on and crushed Lawrence’s new sprinkler, and I got my pants wet. You and Beacher joked that I peed my pants, remember?”
This incident was a great shame for Marvin. At that time, Beacher and Janet even took photos as souvenirs and used them to threaten Marvin and serve
them as errands.
Marvin was furious. While Beacher and Janet were napping, he poured a glass
of water for each of them on the bed.
When the two woke up, they thought they were peeing their pants, and they were too ashamed to let the servants and parents know, so they had an idea
and hid the sheets in Marvin’s room.
In this way, there were several rounds of pranks which lasted for a month.
No matter who mentioned this matter later, even Donahue, who had always been unexpressive, couldn’t help but laugh out loud when he thought of it.
Janet looked at Marvin, recalling when she was a child, the tranquility in her eyes faded a little.
But it was only for a moment, and she couldn’t help but feel heartbroken
again.
Unspeakable melancholy welled up in her heart.
If only she had always been as carefree as she was when she was a child, if only
she had never met Donahueiel.
Seeing the changing mood in Janet’s eyes, Marvin felt that his words were working, and he continued with a coaxing tone.
“Have you eaten yet? You’ve been busy all day, how about I ask Lawrence to make braised pork? Or if you have anything else you want to eat, Donahue and
I will take you out to eat.‘
“Marvin.”
Janet spoke suddenly, and her voice was a little hoarse.
She forced a smile, tried her best to endure the soreness in her nasal cavity, and said in a low voice, “I’m fine, don’t worry. I just want to go upstairs and
have a rest.”
Marvin wanted to say something more, but Donahue coughed lightly
downstairs.
He turned his head subconsciously and saw Donahue frowning at him, shaking
his head slightly.
Marvin swallowed the words that came to his lips.
Janet had already got up to leave, and her thin figure disappeared at the end of
the stairs.
“Donahue.” Marvin went downstairs inexplicably, feeling a little lost, and came to Donahue’s side, “Do we just let Janet take it on herself? What if…”
The last part of Marvin’s sentence faded into silence.
She looked at the bowl of noodles, her eyes were reddened by the steaming
heat.
