Apparently, a woman who addressed herself as Linda’s aunt was making a scene downstairs. 

“Just send her to the police station and update Ms. Lane afterward.” 

After affirming, the head of the security department disconnected the call. 

It was surprising that Lucy had caused a scene at the company. However, considering her personality and commoner’s mindset–traits that even a high–society lifestyle couldn’t erase, it was somewhat expected that she would create a commotion. 

Of course, Linda had no time to deal with Lucy. Her time was precious, and every second of hers should be spent on her creative journey. Arguing with a shrew was no different from wasting resources. 

Wendy returned from outside, holding a box. “Thankfully, I caught you just in time.” She placed the box on the desk and added “Remember to bring this home after work.” 

Noticing the logo on the packaging, a popular building block brand from abroad, Linda teasingly asked, “Is this for me?” 

Wendy rolled her eyes. “Please, Ms. Felix. Aren’t you embarrassed to be playing with bricks at your age? This is for your daughter.” 

Due to work, she had returned to Usna two days ago and coincidentally saw an exclusive store selling those building blocks. Upon recalling how much Lexi adored this brand, she unhesitantly bought it for her. 

Of course, Linda knew this was for Lexi when she cracked the joke. Wendy was right, though. Why would a woman nearing her 30s be playing with bricks? 

“Ever since I turned 16, I feel like I haven’t been aging. Thus, there’s no issue with a 16–year–old playing with building blocks.” 

Wendy replied, “If you weren’t my boss and source of income, I really would’ve slapped you right now.” 

Linda smiled. “That’s why I’m grateful that I’m your boss. Still, thank you for this gift.” 

“Come on, I practically raised her. This is nothing.” 

After Linda returned home, she received a call from the head of the security department again. At that time, she was building blocks with Lexi on the rug. 

“We’ll cooperate however the police want to deal with her. We will not make any statements on our end. If she wants to argue that it’s our fault, we’ll show them the security footage and shut her up.” With that, she ended the call. 

“Mommy, did Wendy buy me these bricks?” Lexi looked up at her.
