Chapter 287
Meanwhile, Chloe woke up to a text message.
The sender, a screenwriter, had contacted her through one of her clients. He wanted to ask if Linda needed a script or if her company was hiring, as he was interested in an Interview
Chloe remembered that Linda’s recent filmproject was missing a screenwriter, so she thought she’d recommend him.
Chloe was generally a disciplined person, usually waking up early in the morning. After having breakdast and giving it some time, she called Linda. However, the first call was automatically disconnected before it even rang-
Chloe figured Linda must still be asleep. After all, arriving in a new city often meant poor sleep, thus waking up late the next day wasn’t unusual.
She drove to her studio, held a morning meeting, and then tried calling Linda again. Still, there was no answer,
A vague sense of unease started to creep over Chloe. She immediately called Wendy, who had just finished a meeting on her end.
“What’s up, Chloe?”
“Wendy, can you reach Linda right now? I’ve called her twice this moming, but no one’s picked up.”
Wendy paused mid–step, surprised. “You haven’t been able to reach her at all?
“Exactly I called once earlier when I woke up, but she didn’t answer. I thought maybe she hadn’t woken up yet. After I finished my meeting, I tried again, but there was still no answer. Something feels off. Can you reach out to her team and check
Linda wasn’t involved with Chloe’s studio, and Chloe stayed out of Linda’s company business. Though they knew about each other’s work, they didn’t have direct contact or personal ties with each other’s colleagues.
But if Linda was scouting film locations in another city, she was likely there with her team, Getting to Springvale from Osho would take some time.
“Alright, I get it. Don’t worry, I’ll contact her team. If I hear anything, I’ll call you right away.”
Wendy reassured Chloe while heading into her office. She used the company phone to call Linda’s production team. The two assistants traveling with Linda quickly picked up. “Wendy, we were just about to call you,” Tiara Brown said, sounding anxious. “We’ve been waiting downstairs all morning for Ms. Felix so we could head out to scout locations, but she hasn’t shown up.
“We went up to her room and knocked on the door multiple times, but there’s been no response.”
of dread settled over Wendy, “Get the hotel staff to open Ms. Felix’s door right now.”
There were two possible scenarios–Linda could be sick and had passed out in her room, unable to hear them, or something much worse had happened.
