Chapter 81
After a night of intense speculation, the issue reached its peak traffic, with Samson fanning the flames behind the scenes. Netizens wondered if Wilson Group would suppress the trending topic to protect Ida.
The public was in for a disappointment.
Not long after the incident broke out, Wilson Group’s PR department released a statement.
“The president of Wilson Group, William Wilson, has no relationship with Ms. Clay. If anyone insists on stirring trouble, be prepared to face a lawsuit.”
In other words, one could stir trouble, but they’d better have their lawyer ready because William would
never let it slide.
William’s statement indirectly confirmed that all those rumors were true.
Linda saw the statement as well.
But she was indifferent.
Even without William’s help, Linda had ways to make Ida pay the price. William’s statement only added credibility to the things she was about to reveal.
Linda woke up to find that her phone was flooded with messages, most of them from Jimmy.
“Linda, you’re really something.”
“Why didn’t you tell me you were planning to stir things up?”
“I love taking down fake innocents.”
“Linda, reply to my messages immediately.”
Linda sat up in bed, sent a quick, “Okay, replied” back, then tossed her phone aside and got up to head to
the bathroom.
There was a big show at YK Media today, and she didn’t want to miss it.
At YK Media’s PR department, Linda and Samson sat together to listen to the department head analyze the possible countermeasures Ida might take next.
“So, you think she might start crying and pleading?” Linda asked.
The PR director nodded. “Yes, Ms. Felix. This is the age of the Internet. Even a mobile video can go viral.”
“Last time, Ida already used the Internet to her advantage. This time, with things blowing out of proportion, she might very well cry her heart out in front of the camera.”
Samson said, “Thank you for your hard work, everyone. Once this matter is resolved, I’ll give you an extra
week of annual leave and increase the year–end bonus by 30%.”
opinion.
Linda followed Samson back to his office.
“Samson, do you think I’m being ruthless?” Linda found herself asking even though she didn’t fully understand why.
Samson poured her a glass of water. “No. I can’t empathize with your experience, but I understand all your
actions.”
Linda had endured inhumane treatment during those four years. Samson couldn’t share her pain.
He thought he should support her unconditionally.
Moreover, Linda was in the right.
“Linda, I will always support your decisions. I have no objections as long as you think it’s right.”
