Noelle ignored Donovan and left the lounge with Cedric. Frank initially wanted to chase after them, but with Donovan almost fainting from anger, he had no choice but to stay back and take care of Donovan.
Back outside, Noelle looked at the event venue and asked, "Cedric, why are you here?"
"I was worried, so I came to check on you," Cedric replied.
He carefully observed her expression. But even though he saw that she looked the same as usual, he still could not fully relax.
He could not help but ask. "What do you plan to do with the foundation?"
"I was just putting on a show just now. The more reluctant I acted about the foundation, the more Xenia would believe my words," Noelle replied.
Noelle was actually eager for Xenia to get her hands on the charity funds they had received that day. Cedric had also come to the same conclusion. He was just too preoccupied earlier to have realized it sooner.
Noelle continued, "Two wealthy women attended the event today: Mrs. Greene and Mrs. Parham. They've probably come to this event because of the Cantrell family."
She then turned to look at Cedric and said, "I only just realized today that I'd met Mrs. Greene once back at the hospital. Do you remember?"
Cedric's expression became slightly unnatural. "I remember."
"Mrs. Greene went upstairs together with me at the time, seemingly trying to avoid someone. But as soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she turned around and ran away," Noelle explained.
She never thought much about it back then, but looking back now made her realize that the scene was rather odd.
Meanwhile, Cedric felt like he was walking on a tightrope, constantly at risk of falling into an endless abyss. Now that Emma had learned that Noelle was the girl from the car accident all those years ago, he realized that he would not be able to keep the secret for much longer.
After a brief moment of hesitation, he asked, "Noelle, what do you think about what Donovan mentioned just now about our differences in status?"
He was worried that she might be angry about him hiding his true identity from her. He was worried that she might think that he had done so because he was worried about her being a materialistic person.
Noelle stood on her tiptoes and covered up his mouth. "I don't care at all."
Cedric held her hand and replied, "At least listen to me first."
