No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 526

Tilly had worked in public relations for quite some time, so she naturally recognized most public figures.

Noelle recalled how Donovan had abruptly stopped her during her last press conference and that she had once mentioned the press conference back in her dorm. She began to wonder if Micah had tipped him off.

Noelle asked, "How much do you know about her?"

Tilly replied, "Nothing much, really, considering how rarely she ever shows up in public, let alone attend any events. From what I've heard, Ms. Cantrell's life was tragic.

"After her mother passed away, she got a stepmother and, with it, a stepfather. Her stepmother treated her well, but it just couldn't compare to her real mother."

"Why do you say so?" Noelle asked.

Tilly explained, "I've heard that Mia Cantrell became withdrawn because of her mobility issues and rarely spoke to others. Some folks even say that there's something off about her.

"Her stepmother kept her well hidden and, later on, even prepared an arranged marriage for her. I thought it was a good thing at first, but it turned out that her fiance was your eldest brother, Donovan. He's not the best person there is, and he's so much older than her, too."

Tilly had already investigated the Liddell family thoroughly ever since she started working for Noelle. She knew that she could speak about Donovan bluntly after she learned about his character.

Noelle nodded and said, "So she's Mia Cantrell? What a coincidence. I knew her as Micah, my roommate. It was probably her who overheard me talking about the press conference and thus served as a whistleblower to Donovan."

"She's your roommate?! It would seem that the Cantrells probably planned all of this with the hopes that the two of you would interact with one another, all the while having her take on a different name for safety reasons. They probably had no idea that you were falling out badly with your family," Tilly replied.

Noelle had thought of the same possibility as well.

But she had barely interacted with Mia back in the dorm. They rarely spoke to one another, and Mia's presence was practically non-existent.

Mia hardly ever left the room except to attend classes, and all her meals were delivered right to their doorstep.

Noelle had once wondered about why someone from such a well-off family would have to stay in a dorm.

Everything finally made sense now.

Tilly continued, "Ms. Liddell, you should be more careful about what you say in the dorm from now on."

"I know," Noelle replied.

She watched as Donovan and Mia entered a restaurant together, most likely to have a meal.

It was apparent that Donovan had reached out to the Cantrell family to clean up Xenia's mess.
