Laura still had not figured out much about Noelle, but her instincts told her that they were talking about something important. Otherwise, Cedric would not have seemed so solemn.
…
Meanwhile, at the university, After finishing her classes in the afternoon, Noelle spent the rest of her time playing games at the esports base. She was toying with her defeated opponents more than ever.
The rest of the team at the base could tell that Noelle was in a foul mood, and no one dared to joke around with her. Grace cautiously approached Noelle and asked, "Noelle, is something wrong?"
Noelle forced herself to smile in an attempt to appear nonchalant. "It's nothing. By the way, dinner's on me tonight."
But everyone around her could tell that she was not in a good mood. As everyone went out together for dinner, Noelle received a message from Cedric asking if there was anything she wanted to have for dinner.
She glanced at it and replied with a dull expression. "I'm having dinner with the team tonight. I can't make it."
Cedric was sitting in his car as he received Noelle's reply. He felt an increasing sense of unease welling up inside his heart.
He gave her a call, but no one answered. He then sent another message. "Where are you having dinner at? I have something to give you."
His messages received no replies at all. Cedric loosened his tie and rolled down the car window to feel the wind. He was now certain that Noelle was angry at him.
Meanwhile, Noelle looked at the messages and deliberately ignored them.
She ordered some alcohol for herself, to which Grace reminded her, "Don't drink so much, Noelle. You'll get drunk."
But at that moment, all Noelle wanted to do was to drink. She was already staggering on her feet by the time dinner was over.
Grace hurriedly supported her and said, "Be careful, Noelle."
Raymond walked up to them and said, "I'll carry her back. Holding her up isn't gonna work since her legs are already giving out. She might stumble and fall."
Grace hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement. The entire group carefully helped the drunken Noelle cross the street.
Suddenly, a luxurious car pulled up nearby, and an exceptionally handsome man stepped out of it. His expression was stern as he walked over, all the while staring at Noelle.
