Chapter 471 Is Susanna Dead
Immediately, Lenora got out of her car to assess the damage. The rear of her car was wrecked due to the impact. The front of the white car that hit her from behind wasn't in a much better state either.
The owner of the white car got out, inspecting the point of collision between the two vehicles. He then walked around to the back of his car, looked it over, and then proceeded to curse furiously at the driver of the black car behind him, “How the h*ll do you drive? Do you even know how to drive?”
The driver of the black car timidly presented his driver's license. “I... I'm still learning...” The driver of the white car was at a loss for words.
The driver of the white car was at a loss for words.
Only then did Lenora realize that it was a multi-car collision.
The black car collided with the white one, which hadn't maintained a proper distance, subsequently hitting Lenora's.
Two roadblocks were laid out behind the black car. The three drivers walked to the side of the road, making necessary calls to the police and their insurance companies.
Although the case was straightforward, the process still required a considerable amount of time.
By the time Lenora finished dealing with the matter and rushed to the police station where Susanna was held, visiting hours were already over.
Letting out a sigh, she resigned herself to return home, intending to come back the next day.
Lately, Madison had been increasingly reluctant to get up.
With her internship nearing its end, she consoled herself to persevere just a little longer.
When she reached the company lobby, it was 8:27. Seeing the elevator doors about to close, she sprinted toward it, shouting, “Wait for me!”
The elevator doors closed.
Madison slowed her pace, silently lamenting to herself, The elevator better descend quickly, or else I won't arrive just in time but rather be late.
Suddenly, the elevator doors opened once again.
Madison's eyes lit up, and she quickly rushed inside, panting heavily. She wiped off the thin layer of sweat off her forehead and expressed her gratitude to the person inside, “Thank you.”
“Mhm.” A faint voice echoed from the side.
That sounds so familiar.
Taken aback, Madison lifted her head to glance at the person next to her, and blurted, “Stanley!”
As soon as those words were spoken, the elevator descended into a few seconds of silence.
Stanley's face darkened drastically. “Am I supposed to call you my dear cousin-in-law?”
“N-No need. Good morning, Mr. Fuller!” Madison, with an awkward smile, quickly corrected herself. “Congratulations on your wedding, Mr. Fuller.”
Stanley's here to work the day after his wedding? Why didn't he take a vacation for his honeymoon?
As if he could read her thoughts, Stanley cleared his throat, saying, “Mindy needs to rest now.”
“Oh, hmm... Huh? Is Mindy sick?” Madison asked with concern.
The wedding dress Mindy wore yesterday had its waistline situated below the bust, accompanied by a voluminous skirt that was further enhanced with a petticoat. It was such that one couldn't make out much.
“She's pregnant.”
The child would be born in just over four months, so Stanley didn't think there was a need to hide or conceal this fact.
A sudden realization hit Madison. “Well, that definitely deserves some good rest. Mr. Fuller, you must take good care of Mindy. A woman's tastes and emotions can fluctuate greatly during pregnancy, so as a husband, you need to be patient. Just like me...”
“What do you mean by 'just like me'?”
Having almost revealed the secret, Madison broke into a nervous sweat, explaining, “Just like a distant relative of mine. One moment she wants to eat this, the next moment she wants to eat that. Her hubby lost patience, and they were on the verge of divorce as soon as their child was born.”
“You seem to know quite a lot,” Stanley remarked, his smile not quite reaching his eyes.
“Hehehe...”
Madison chuckled dryly, quietly letting out a sigh of relief.
My brain's been increasingly uncooperative lately. This internship needs to end quickly!
Ding!
The elevator doors slid open. “Goodbye, Mr. Fuller,” uttered Madison before she swiftly exited the elevator.
Watching her retreating figure, Stanley furrowed his brows.
Why does it seem like Madison has put on a lot more weight than when she first came? Is it just my imagination?
Early the next morning, before Lenora had the chance to visit the police station, they called her. “Ms. Wilkin, the suspect, Susanna Carston, committed suicide in prison. She had requested to make a phone call to you yesterday. We would like you to come to the police station.”
