“What were you calling me for?” Zephyr looked at her with an innocent expression.

“It's summer now.”

The season of passion has already passed.

“I was merely recalling the day I bumped into your mother while tutoring you. Where did your mind wander off to?” Zephyr raised an eyebrow.

Sophia paused for a moment.

There was this one time, during a tutoring session at her place, when Zephyr did indeed run into her mother. However, that was a matter of the second semester.

Zephyr had certainly brought up the events of the first semester to throw her off.

If she were to point out his mistake, she would fall right into his trap. It would seem as though she was still hung up on their past, constantly dwelling on what happened between him and her.

“Isn't it summer now? Where has your mind wandered off to?” She turned the tables on him in defiance.

After she had finished speaking, she turned around and continued walking forward. “Enough talk. Let's move on to the next stall quickly.”

They were out and about until ten o'clock, after which the two of them returned to the hotel together.

Sophia decided to take a taxi home; she didn't need Zephyr to escort her.

Zephyr said outright, “I'm staying at the same hotel as you.”

Sophia was rendered speechless, as this wasn't the first time it happened.

The last time, Lenora had snapped a photo of Zephyr in Fairlake, asking her if Zephyr had reached out to her.

Her answer was particularly cryptic—not in the past few days.

However, that was because Zephyr had returned to Fairlake during that period.

Before that, during her off-work hours, Zephyr would often seek her out. Whether he was on a business trip or in Jacaster, he seemed to always know where she was.

“Zephyr, what on earth are you trying to do?”

“Isn't it obvious? I'm pursuing you. I want to reconcile with you, Sophia.”

Sophia had expected Zephyr to deliver a long-winded speech to profess his love. However, she was surprised by what he actually said.

She asked curiously, “How are you going to do that?”

“I can join Tortell Fashion in your stead and win the management and shareholders over. With my abilities, I can hinder the progress of your illegitimate brother once he graduates and joins the company. When he fails to make any headway, this will leave your father with no choice but to hand the company over to you.”

Sophia had faith in Zephyr's capabilities. “But, if you've won over the other shareholders, why would my father hand the company over to me?” she asked.

“That's why there's something we need to do first—we need to get married. After marriage, we become a single entity. Whatever's mine will be yours.”

Sophia broke into a smirk. “What a great plan you have there.”

“Sophia, we can enter into a contract marriage. I hope you'll seriously consider this. We'll decide the terms together and during our contract marriage, I promise not to break any of the agreed-upon rules. Do you really want to see your illegitimate younger brother inherit everything from your father?”

“Even then, I don't necessarily need your help.”

“Yet, can you find anyone more capable or trustworthy than me?” Zephyr stared at Sophia with an intense gaze.

Sophia opened her mouth slightly but couldn't deny the merit of his words.

She was considering finding someone else to rely on. Putting aside the uncertainty of the plan, even if she truly took control of the company, there was no guarantee that the person she found would not cast her aside and seize the company on his own.

The same risk applied to Zephyr, but it was minimal.

Firstly, Sophia understood him and knew he wasn't that kind of person.
