Third Person’s POV

According to the tradition of the two great werewolf tribes, she should have been brought before Lucian’s tomb to be executed.
As long as she could stall until they set foot on the road back to the capital, she firmly believed she still had a chance to wait for Ulrik to come and save her.
But at this moment, she couldn’t help but think of another cruel possibility.
From the Northern Kingdom all the way to Snowdeer Town, Ulrik hadn’t even dispatched a single scout.
“It was Zander! He was the one who gave the order!”
Velda completely panicked, screaming at the top of her lungs, “I was just executing his orders! Go tell Helia to go directly to Zander! I really am just a scapegoat… I was just pushed out by them to take the fall! You’ve been deceived! I swear! All of you have been completely played by Zander!”
Thalia pressed her lips tightly together, a mocking sneer surfacing on her face.
She couldn’t even be bothered to refute her mad ravings. Turning around, she slowly walked toward the dungeon exit.
Velda stared at the receding sphere of light. As Thalia left, the surrounding darkness–like a giant beast lurking in the shadows- surged back frantically from all directions.
That thick blackness mercilessly swallowed her battered body inch by inch, like a massive vortex.
An icy chill seeped deep into her bones, making her teeth chatter violently from the cold.
“No… come back! Stop and listen to me! I was just a lowly officer at the time. Without orders from a superior, how could I have possibly done those things? I was used by them too! I was pushed out by Zander to take the blame!”
The ball of light grew dimmer and dimmer until it finally disappeared completely around the corner of the corridor.
In the dead silence deep within the dungeon, there remained only the muffled creak of the heavy, long–unused rusted iron door pulling shut.
The last sliver of hope was completely extinguished; the darkness swallowed her whole.
Velda lay prone in the putrid muddy water, a shrill, desolate howl ripping from her throat.
“No-! Don’t go! Come back here!”
No one answered her.
The surroundings plunged once again into a maddening, deathly silence.
ľ
in the deepest part of this hidden cell, only her own heartbeat remained. Driven by sheer terror, her heart pounded against her ribs like a war drum, vibrating so hard her eardrums went numb.
Thalia walked toward Celeste and Sybil, who were standing guard outside.

Sybil wasn’t wearing heavy shackles at this moment, but the heavily armed guards surrounding her made her perfectly clear about
what fate awaited her.
Yet there wasn’t a trace of fear in her eyes when it came to death. As long as she could witness Velda being brutally tortured and killed by those angry villagers with her own eyes, she wouldn’t have a single complaint even if she were executed immediately.
“I’ve already told her the verdict. She is cowering in the corner shivering right now,” Thalia said lightly to Celeste, her gaze sweeping over Sybil’s pale face.
Celeste snorted coldly, her tone devoid of any sympathy.
“Letting her taste the fear of death shrouding her before true destruction falls is good. It’s the exact retribution she deserves.”
“As long as Velda dies, I will willingly end my own life.”
Sybil took a deep breath, scalding tears bursting from her reddened eyes.
Celeste turned to look at her, brows tightly furrowed, her eyes full of disappointment.
