Third Person’s POV

Adelaide Adelaide!

Lance gently patted her face, trying to pull her out of her nightmare.

Adelaide’s eyes snapped open. One hand was already wrapped around Lance’s throat, and killing intent surged through her instantly. Her wolf let out a low growl deep within her chest.

But the face before her was Lance’s, filled with worry.

She stared at him for a long moment before slowly lowering her hand.

I’m sorry. Her voice was hoarse, barely audible. I had a nightmare.

She pressed her hand against the pillow and realized it was soaked with her tears.

Lance pulled her into his arms, his voice tightening with heartache. It’s okay, my girl. It’s over now.

Adelaide took several deep breaths, forcing the storm of emotions inside her back down. Then she wiped away her tears.

Don’t worry. I’m fine, she said softly. Don’t tell Paisley about this. I don’t want her to worry.

Lance turned her to face him and looked directly into her eyes.

Listen to me. If you’re hurting, tell me. Don’t keep carrying all that pain by yourself. Sooner or later, it will become too much for you to bear.

Adelaide forced a faint smile. I’ve already gotten my revenge. There’s nothing left to worry about now. I’m fine, really. Don’t worry about me.

Lance frowned. His mate was always like this, always trying to handle everything on her own and never wanting to trouble anyone.

At that moment, he even felt a little jealous of Paisley and Avery,

At least around them, Adelaide could still be the carefree, stubborn girl she used to be.

The next morning, Adelaide got up as usual and left the house, acting as if nothing had happened.

It was Ulrik who was different. Seriously injured, he requested an extended leave from Lycan Erasmus and stayed in the pack to

recover

After learning what had happened, Erasmus was so furious that he cursed on the spot.

Fabian, who happened to be there, was caught in the storm of Erasmus’s anger and overwhelming Alpha aura.

If he truly loved her, he wouldn’t have treated Adelaide that way in the first place. Now he’s injured himself over a traitor. Does this look like the behavior of an Alpha who leads a pack?

Perhaps others didn’t understand why Erasmus had repeatedly spared Ulrik, but Fabian knew the reasons clearly.

Chapter 880

There were three main reasons.

First, the king still respected Alpha Isaiah for his past contributions to the kingdom. Second, Ulrik was needed to keep the Tronthorn in check. Third, taking action against him now would hurt the morale of the werewolf soldiers stationed at the Bloodscar Border.

But recently, news had arrived that the Western Tribe was withdrawing its forces from the border. Erasmus likely wouldn’t continue showing Ulrik the same leniency.

After leaving Erasmus’s study, Fabian deliberately waited in the hallway for Benjamin and told him about Erasmus’s outburst over Ulrik

Benjamin only needed a moment to understand the reason. Known throughout the court for his fiery temper and blunt personality, he immediately started cursing in front of everyone.

The Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack is nowhere to be found on the battlefield, and now he’s trying to kill himself over a traitor to the kingdom. A hewolf like that is a disgrace to our country!

The next day, Benjamin publicly brought a motion against Ulrik before the council, and soon more officials joined him in calling for action.

Erasmus had no choice but to remove Ulrik from his position and order him to remain in the pack for reflection.

As a result, Alfred took over Ulrik’s position, while Zach filled Alfred’s former role.

Both of them were pleased with this unexpected promotion. Deep down, they even felt fortunate that Ulrik had ruined his own future.

When news of Ulrik’s dismissal reached the Bloodmoon Pack, Gloria sat alone in the living room, unable to say a word for a long

time.

Thinking back to the night Ulrik had slammed his head against the wall, the horror she had felt was still vivid. Even now, she remained shaken.

Truthfully, she had looked down on Ulrik in her heart for years. Seeing him act so recklessly for Velda had finally worn away whatever affection remained between them.

It was time to leave him for good.

But where could she go?

There was probably no one in the entire New York who would dare bond with her now. Was she supposed to end up like Sabrina and become another hewolf’s breeder?

No! Absolutely not! I am from the noble ironclaw Pack. I will never let myself fall so low!she thought.

Gloria sat in the living room for a long time, restless and unable to find a solution. In the end, she slowly stood up, walked into the bedroom, and told Ulrik her decision.

She thought he would at least regret it.
