How could he be so utterly heartless? She had already swallowed her pride, willing to compromise and stay by his side, yet he wouldn’t even grant her pitiful requests!
Gloria’s heart sank into a bottomless glacial abyss. Her inner wolf could feel the fragile threads of their mate bond fraying, sensing its impending snap, and thrashed inside her mind with a desperate, rabid howl.
She couldn’t understand it. How did she keep ending up in this wretched position, time and time again?
A rejection was her absolute last resort. Before it came to that, she had gone to Alpha Isaiah, weeping and begging for intervention, and then to Simon, trying to get them to reason with Ulrik together. In a final, desperate act, she had even swallowed what little dignity she had left to beg Vanya.
But Vanya wanted nothing to do with the Bloodmoon Pack ever again.
Tamara’s death had left her with nothing but pure, unadulterated loathing for every single member of that pack.
So, when Gloria frantically laid out Ulrik’s borderline suicidal plan, Vanya merely offered a dismissive nod, acting as if she genuinely agreed.
“Honestly? I think it’s a great idea. I fully support him.”
Gloria had come looking for an ally to talk some sense into Ulrik. Hearing Vanya’s callous response, she lost her temper. She slammed her hand down, sending the glass on the table crashing to the floor, shattering into pieces.
“If you don’t want to help, just say it,” Gloria spat. “I didn’t come here for your hypocritical pity.”
With that, she flipped her hair, turned on her heel, and stormed out.
Isalah and Simon hadn’t pushed the matter much either.
Of course, they didn’t want to see Ulrik reduced to a bottom–feeder in the military ranks, but they also knew that begging Christine was a pipe dream.
The Bloodmoon Pack was no longer the powerhouse it once was, its former glory had withered to ash. In city driven entirely by cold, hard transactional benefits, alliances between packs were strictly a quid pro quo.
They had absolutely nothing of value to offer the Ironclaw Pack. Why on earth would Christine lift a finger for them?
With every option exhausted, Gloria spent days crying herself hoarse over the sheer unfairness of it all. Ultimately, she had no choice but to flee back to her mother’s house.
The moment she crossed the threshold, she threw herself into her mother’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably. She walled about how she couldn’t bear the thought of Ulrik serving as a mere grunt.
Then, she confessed her deepest, darkest fear. Lycan Erasmus had already publicly reprimanded Ulrik multiple times. If hat pathetic Alpha upset him one more time, Lycan Erasmus might just dissolve the Bloodmoon Pack entirely and hand their tumory
over to someone else
if that happened, she would go from a noble bom she wolf despised, packless rogue overnight.

Cynthia was visibly shaken by her words. She immediately ordered the staff to summon Luna Christine so they could figure out a
countermeasure
However, the butter informed her that Christine had left early that morning for the Independent She–Wolf Center.
In reality, Christine had fled on purpose. Ruby had already filled her in on everything going on within the Bloodmoon Pack Knowing Gloria would inevitably come knocking or conclaw’s door for help, Christine seized the opportunity to dodge the incoming trainwreck.
Years of dealing with Gloria had taught Christine exactly what she was–spoiled, entitled, and utterly selfish, Christine refused to bail her out again, knowing that if anything went sideways, Gloria would just twist the parrative and blame her anyway,
Stepping away was the smartest move she could make.
Yet, the moment Christine arrived at the center, she inadvertently threw Paisley massive lifeline.
For the past two days, Luna Sidney had practically set up camp at the center from dawn till dusk, relentlessly badgering Paisley to visit her pack.
Ever since the last banquet, Paisley had seen right through Alpha Germain’s vile, predatory intentions toward her. Under normal circumstances, her fiery temper would have had her screaming in Sidney’s face.
But Adelaide had repeatedly warned her to avoid any conflict with Sidney.
Knowing how drowning in work Adelaide already was, Paisley didn’t want to add to her stress. She had spent the last forty–eight hours biting her tongue until it bled.
So, when Paisley saw Christine walk through the door, she felt like she had just seen a savior. She quickly fabricated an excuse and practically shooed Sidney out the door.
“How is Sophie holding up?” Christine asked once they were alone.
“No change,” Paisley sighed heavily. “She won’t speak to anyone, and she’s refusing to eat.”
Paisley rubbed her temples. “She’s been waiting to talk to you. I’ve kept her confined to her room these past few days, and I’ve been pulling shifts guarding her door. I’m terrified that if we look away for even a second, she’ll spiral again and try to end her life.”
Sophie Langley had arrived two days ago, To be precise, she hadn’t sought out their help willingly, Adelaide had physically dragged her off the edge of a bridge..
