Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Daniel Ortega was painfully easy to mess with, which was probably the only reason I haven’t walked out of this tutoring session yet.
If this wasn’t pure torture, I wasn’t sure what is
How do the nerds do this, seat for hours, reading things that were an absolutely bore
I let out another sigh for the ten thousand time today, literally, no joking.
Okay maybe there was a little bit of exaggeration in that, but it sure felt like.
My gazed wondered round the library, which was unusually quiet for five in the evening, sunlight pouring through the tall windows and casting warm golden streaks across the table between us.

It would’ve been peaceful if only I wasn’t trapped in an academic hell, all in the name of getting freaking ass tutored.
Chemistry papers were scattered everywhere, my iced coffee had gone watery twenty minutes ago, and Daniel had been explaining the same thing for so long that his voice had started blending into background noise.
Something about electrons, or was it neutrons
Whatever
I rested my chin against my palm and stared at him, pretending like I was listening carefully to whatever he was saying, nodding every few seconds to keep the act believable.
Meanwhile, my mind was completely elsewhere, thinking about what party I needed to attend by the weekend. With how the week had gone, a drink didn’t sound so bad, and also the need to get thoroughly fucked
Can’t remember the last time I got laid, with the whole Landon thing.
At the thought of Landon, my mind drifted slightly. Okay, maybe a tiny, tiny bit to my phone sitting beside my notebook, and to a certain jork who was still playing this stupid game that he was play, and refusing to reply to any of my text.
And they say girls were more dramatic than guys
Ugh…
If Landon was still going to act all bitchy, then I might need to find someone else.
My gaze drifted back to Daniel, bored out of my damn mind as I watched as he adjusted his glasses nervously while pointing at the worksheet.
“S…so basically, the atom becomes unstable when…”
“Mhm,”I hummed softly, not paying any attention.
His eyes flickered up for half a second before darting away immediately.
Look how adorable he was
From the short while I have gotten to know him, which meant today, but that was besides the point. I had realized that our little nerdy boy, Daniel, was the type who got nervous when a girl looked at him too long.
You could literally see the panic happen in real time

And since I was so bored out my mind, what better way to keep myself entertained that to tease him.
I shifted in my chair a bit to his direction, leaning closer toward him like I was suddenly invested in chemistry and what ever he had to say about the topic.
“So, which part is it?” I purred out.
“H…huh”
“The unstable part,” I said, blinking at him and acting all innocent. “Can you explain it to me again, Daniel.”
His throat bobbed at this, “O….oh, um…” he glanced down at the paper quickly, “w….well, when the outer shell isn’t full, the atom tries to…”
I tried to listen, I really, really did, but then my phone screen lit up again beside me and my concentration disappeared instantly.
Tapping on the screen, a little eager, just for it to be quenched immediately when I saw it was a notification from instagram.
Still nothing from Landon.
“Was he being for freaking real” I muttered under my breath, not being able to stop the frown that made its way to my face.
Daniel kept talking quietly, completely unaware that I’d stopped paying attention halfway through his sentence. I found myself staring at the way his fingers tightened around the pen whenever he got nervous.
Which was often, especially around me, I scooted my chair closer to his even more, just to raffle up again. The movement was subtle enough that he didn’t notice at first, not untill he turned to point at something in my notebook, freezing in place when he realised that our faces were suddenly way closer than before.
Not close enough to touch, but close enough that I could see the faint freckles scattered across his nose and the way his breathing visibly hitched.
Daniel’s entire face flushed red almost instantly.
Okay
Double cute
I bit the inside of my cheek to stop myself fromlaughing.
* S…sorry, “he stammered quickly, leaning back so abruptly his chair nearly scraped loudly against the floor.
I tilted my head to the side, still acting clueless. “And what might you be sorry about, Daniel.”
“Uh….I…nothing, I just…” his words completely died when I kept staring at him. Poor boy looked like his brain had short- circuited.
Then, like he was physically forcing himself to recover, Daniel cleared his throat awkwardly and looked back down at the worksheet again.
“Um….R… right.” He adjusted his glasses with shaky fingers. “So, chemistry.”
I fight back the smile that threatens to make its way to my face when I saw his ears were already red.
Daniel tried continuing the lesson, voice anything but steady now as he pointed at the page again. “The atom forms bonds because it needs stability and…”
“Yeah, mhm.” I nodded like I cared while secretly reaching for my phone under the table.
