It was crazy

Absolutely fucking crazy that Caelum could say all those things to me and then simply walk into the bathroom like he hadn’t just turn my entire world upside down.

And now I was standing alone in his bedroom, staring at the closed bathroom door while his words echoes inside my head like a siren I couldn’t shut off.

You are my ruin, my undoing

My heart gave another hard thud

I’d rather walk through the fire and get burned if it meant I could be with you

I press my lips together, wondering the hell was I suppose to do with that and how was I suppose to stand there like a normal person after hearing something like that.

My thoughts were already spiraling knowing had called me his ruin and his undoing, and how he had basically said he would choose me even if being with me destroyed him.

I drag a hand down my face. this was a confession, right? It had to be, there was no other way to interpret those words. unless..a frown hitched in my brows, was I getting ahead of myself again?

Was I doing that thing where I took a few words, twists them around in my head, and built an entire story that wasn’t actually there. I shook my head, no..no, I heard what I heard.

Every single word

I hadn’t imagined it

A long breath slips from my lungs as I ran my fingers through my hair, pushing the strands away from my

face.

“What the hell,” I whisper, letting out a sigh again, my head felt slightly dizzy as his words had consumed

Every word he had utter seem to echo again the moment I tried to push it away, dragging me deeper and deeper into emotions I wasn’t prepared to deal with. And somehow,, despite the confusion swirling through my mind, I couldn’t stop the warmth spreading through me..

His words were still there, repeating, over and over again ans I had no idea what I was supposed to do with the way they made me feel.

I bit my lower lip when the sound of the shower hitting the bathroom floor reaches my ears again. my gaze drifting toward the bathroom door, lingering there.

Should I wait for him here in his bedroom until he was done or should I go downstairs and wait for him in the living room? I stared at the door for another few seconds before finally making up my mind, then finally push myself away from the spot I had been standing in, making my way toward the bedroom door.

My fingers close around the doorknob and I stopped as my eyes slowly closes, the shower was still

ad immediately, my thoughts starts wandering again as, I found myself wondering what was going through his mind. If he was thinking about and thinking about what he had just said, If he was thinking about just exactly what it was that I was thinking about at this moment.

A breath slips through my lips again, as I wonder what it was I wanted. Frowning slightly, I thought it whad exactly it was I wanted at this very moment. whatmy heart truly, truly wanted?

The answer came quietly, Caelum

Then my thoughts immediately drifts back to the painting, the one he had painted of me capturing everything, every emotion and expression. Every little interaction between us that I hadn’t even realised he’d been paying that much attention to.

That painting had been his confession too

Maybe he hadn’t said the words then, but he has shown me what I meant to him and shown me how deeply he cared, how much he’d noticed, and how badly he wanted the best for me.

Opening my eyes, my fingers slowly loosen around the doorknob, realisint how I still hadn’t told him how I felt, not really. I had dance around it, hidden behind arguments and assumptions and fear. But I didn’t want to hide anymore, I wanted him to know.

I wanted him to know that I felt the same way, because he was mine too, my ruin and undoing

Without giving myself another second to hesitate, I head for the door, and my fingers curls around the handle as I rested my forehead against the wood for a brief moment. He made me complet, belonging to him made that feeling even more deeper.

Finally, I turn the handle, stepping into the bathroom, immediately surrounded by the thick steam filling the air. Taking in a slow breath, moving farther inside as the warmth brushing against my skin, my eyes lifts to the large mirror,, and as I stare at my reflection, only one thought echoed through my mind.

You’re my ruin..

I slip out of my clothes, every last piece of clothing I had on, letting them fall beside me, then gather whatever confidence I could. Taking one last look at myself in the mirror, then turn toward the shower, gulping nervously, before stepping behind the curtain and into the warmth.

Caelum stood with his back to me, unaware of my presence. I drew a shaky breath, steam curls around him as hot water streams over his shoulders, his muscles contracting subtly beneath my touch when I rested my hand against his back.

He spun around at once, looking down at me as a flicker of confusion crossed his face, “Delilah? What are you doing here?”

I gulp, trying to steady my voice, “I wanted to go to the Festive Fall with you,” I admitted, and he doesn’t say anything, as I lifted my hand, tracing it slowly over his chest till it came to rest above his heart.

Beneath my palm, I could feel its steady beat, and the closeness made it harder to hold back the words I had been carrying for so long, “I wanted to be the one standing by your side.”

His expression tightens, confusion giving way to hurt, “Then why did you end things before I even had the chance to clear things up with you?”

“Because..I was scared,” I whisper, “I was stupid, and I was fucking insecure. When you told me you were taking Olivia, it felt like my heart had been shattered all over again. I thought..I meant nothing to you, that..everything between us had only happened because of the deal, and that the moment you had a choice, you would choose her instead of me.”
