Chapter 38
“Delilah.”
I didn’t bother looking up from where I was spinning a pen between my fingers.
“Hm.”

“Want to explain this?” That got my attention, and I lifted my head to find Caelum staring down at the assessment paper in front of him, the look on his face immediately told me everything I needed to know.
Shit
My gaze drops to the paper, and at the red marks on them. Lots of red marks
Okay, maybe a concerning amount of red marks
I winced. “Well..” I started, “that isn’t exactly encou
And let’s just say he wasn’t one bit amused by my words or the paper. “This isn’t something to joke about.” His fingers taps against the paper. “You were doing really well.”
I sighed before leaning back in my chair. “I know..”
“And now you’ve failed most of this.” My lips parted, then closed, before parting again.
Honestly, I didn’t even know what excuse to give him apart from having a shitty ass day.
“It’s just one day.” I say instead and his brows furrowed. “I wasn’t feeling it, that’s all.”
For a second he just stares at me like he was trying to determine whether I was being serious or not, and unfortunately for him, I was.
“You weren’t feeling it,” he repeats, clearly not liking my response.
I shrugged. “Exactly.”
“That’s what you are going with.”
“Glad to see we are on the same page,” I nod, giving him the fakest smile ever along with a thumbs up.
A muscle tickled in his jaw, enough for me to know he was getting irritated. “If you are doing this badly now,” he says carefully, “what are you going to do when your test comes around.”
I groaned, dropping my head onto the desk. “I know.”
“Do you?”
“Yes, mom.”
“Delilah..” he calls out more sternly and I wasn’t sure why something about his tone sent a wave through my body, touching literally every where and when I mean everywhere, I mean everywhere.
Get it together.
Ugh..but it had been long since I had any form of action. It was safe to say that I am, right now, sexually deprived. Maybe that’s why I was unexceptional cracky today.

Chapter 38
Pushing the thoughts aside, I turned to look at him, taking in the look in his eyes and how serious he really was.

I sighed, running my hand through my hair. “Don’t worry, I will prepare for it, okay.” His expression remained unconvinced. “I know you will help me too, right.”
He finally gives a reaction, not much but just a slight narrowing of his eyes, and I tried not to sigh again for the hundred time today.
Everything about today was irritating. Every single little thing.
That’s what you get when you are sexually frustrated
Okay, thoughts aside for now
My attention remained on Caelum who was quietly studying me for a moment before asking. “Are you okay?”
I bite at the wall of my lips as I tried not to react. This was the first time since a long time that anyone has ask if I was okay
Playing it off with a smile, I asked. “Yeah, why wouldn’t I be.”
for since ado
His expression remains calm. “Is this about what happened at the with Sophie Dalgado?”
A loud groan leaves my lips as it echos through the kitchen
Great. He also knows about my dispute with Sophie.
Who in the fucking ass Crestmont didn’t know about the Saint Sophie and the crazy villain against her love story with Landon.
Dragging my hands down my face. “Can we not talk about it?”
His lips parted and he was probably preparing one of his annoying speeches but I point a finger at him instead, halting his word.
“Don’t,” he pause and I could see the hint of concern in his eyes but I wasn’t going to address it and add instead. “Since we are done for today, let’s do something else.”
His brows lifts. “Something else.”
“Yes.”
“Like.”
“I don’t know.” I shrugged, “anything that doesn’t involve looking at that disaster.”
I pointed toward my assessment and his gaze flickers down to it, then back at me and his lips parted again. “Delilah…”
“You don’t have to act like you bloody care, you know,” the words slips out of my mouth before I could stop them.
I regretted it the moment they were said out loud and just like that Caelum goes completely still for a second and a look go hurt flashes across his eyes, but he was quick to mask it off as he nods.
“Right.”
I immediately grimaced. “No.” His eyebrow rose and I sighed “Not right.”
God
Why was apologizing so difficult?

Caelum on the other hand doesn’t say anything and waits for me to continue, not at all rushing me, and just like that I cracked.
“I shouldn’t have snapped at you.” I mutter before looking away and for a moment, neither of us spoke, then the corner of his mouth lifted in a small smile.
The kind that made me want to throw something at him
“Who would’ve thought?”
“Oh, don’t.”
“Delilah Quinn.” I already hated where this was going, “has a slightly nicer side to her.”
I scoffed. “You are imagining things.” He lets out a quiet laugh, one that was warm and every much so, annoyingly attractive.
Rolling my eyes I grabbed the nearst pencil. “Keep talking and I’m throwing this at your head.”
His grin only grew. “Aren’t you ever so charming,,” his voice dried with sarcasm, prompting me to throw the pencil at him
but he caught it before it could hit him.
The smug bastard
A smug grin was still lingering on his face as he gathered the
