A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy's Woman novel Chapter 23

Chapter 23

After delivering her speech, Bethany discovered that half of the employees who had supposedly asked for a day off had returned, while the three who had gone out on fieldwork were back at the office.

She smiled and clapped her hands. Hey everyone, since I’m new here, coffee’s on me! What would you like?

It seemed that no harm came to them, but they still reaped the benefits.

Thanks, Ms. Porter! One iced long black for me.

I’d like a mediumsized iced blonde vanilla latte with oat milk!

Oh, I haven’t had coffee today. I’ll have a large iced caramel macchiato with whipped cream and an extra shot, please.

William was the only one whose expression had turned dark.

At 5:00 pm, Bethany left work right on time. The moment she entered her car, she saw a crestfallen William chasing after her.

Ms. Porter, I messed up today. Please don’t hold it against me.

Bethany wound down the window and gave him a curt nod. Alright, apology accepted. Still, we need to be professional at work, Mr. Grant. Try to boost your performance next month to offset this month’s penalty.

With that, she slowly drove out of the parking lot.

Bethany had made plans with Silas to buy matching rings. She checked the location he sent and drove there. When she got to the store, a row of matching rings was already waiting for her on the display case.

Silas asked, See anything you like?

Bethany skimmed the selection and settled on the matching singlediamond pair. They were simple but classy. She said, These are perfect.

A hint of joy flashed across Silaseyes. Sure. We’ll take this pair.

He naturally slipped one onto his ring finger, then picked up the other. Would you like to put yours on now?

After a brief silence, Bethany agreed. Sure.

Still, she couldn’t help but wonder if Silasboyfriend would get jealous upon seeing their matching rings. Naturally, that wasn’t something she needed to worry about.

She was in and out of the store with the rings in under ten minutes.

Silas said, Let’s go. My car is parked on B2.

Bethany pressed the elevator button. Mine’s parked on B1. We can leave separately.

Silas gave her a long look, a halfsmile playing on his lips. Sure.

Across the elevator, approximately 60 feet away, Ella stood linking hands with Noah. She exclaimed, Noah, the outdoor store is here!

Noah squinted as a familiar figure crossed his path. The longhaired woman reminded him of Bethany.

Before he could take a good look at the figure, they had already entered the elevator.

Ella chirped, Noah, should we wear matching outfits to go camping?
