“Mr. Brennan,” someone cautiously greeted.

Everyone knew that Silas and Noah didn’t get along. Their families had been rivals for years, and neither side was willing to give an inch.

Thus, everyone was confused about why Silas had suddenly appeared.

Noah’s tone was unfriendly as he asked, “Why are you here?”

Silas walked over to the person holding the penalty cards. “Oh, nothing much. I just couldn’t stand you people picking on a young lady. Problem with that?”

Ella bit her lip and glanced at him. “Silas, you must’ve misunderstood us. We didn’t pick on her.” She then turned to Bethany. “Right, Beth?”

Bethany stole a glance at Silas‘ flawless side profile, wondering why he was here. Yet, she had no reason to refuse when someone was offering to help her. “Yeah, you were picking on me.”

Once she said that, everyone’s expression changed.

Holly felt sorry for her friend. “Yeah! What kind of stupid penalty is that? We’re not doing that, Beth!”

Ella looked at Noah and mumbled, “We didn’t pick on you. Beth, how could you accuse us of that?”

Silas gave her a half–smile, then spread the penalty cards on the table for all to see.

“Let’s take a look at the penalties, shall we? Are all ten cards about apologizing to the girl in pink? What kind of dare is this?” Holly was visibly shocked. She had no idea they were genuinely targeting Bethany. She quickly took Bethany’s hand and said, “I’m sorry, Beth.”

After all, Bethany wouldn’t have been bullied if she hadn’t dragged her along.

A chill radiated from Noah as he slowly got to his feet. “Silas, what exactly do you want?”

“Nothing much.” Silas stuck one hand in his pocket and said calmly, “I just can’t stand seeing bitches and scumbags, that’s

all.”

He paused, then added, “Why the grim expression, Mr. Vazquez? Are you admitting that you’re a scumbag? And I don’t believe we’re familiar enough for you to address me by my name, Ms. Reid. My wife will get jealous if you do that.”

His wife?

Everyone could barely hide their shock.

After all, it was a known fact that Silas was gay!

Back when Silas and Noah had their falling–out, people claimed it was because Silas had a thing for Noah. Ella’s face turned pale. She felt deeply wronged–no one had ever called her a bitch to her face before.

She dug her nails into her palms until they were red, then whispered, “Noah…”

Noah felt his temples throb. “Silas, that’s enough. I didn’t invite you, so please leave.”

Silas chuckled softly. “Don’t worry. I wasn’t planning to stay long. This place is a mess, anyway.”

He fixed his gaze on Bethany, a faint smile playing on his lips. “Miss, would you like to leave with me?”

Bethany’s heart instantly raced.
