Bethany was startled by Silas‘ question and started coughing violently. Though, the harder she coughed, the redder her face

became.

Silas pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and tried to offer it to her, but Betahny slapped it away.

Silas paused slightly, and the smile on his lips gradually faded.

Realizing she had overreacted, Bethany quickly apologized. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to do that.”

“It’s fine,” Silas said with a calm gaze. “I get it. Anyone would feel weird after being kissed by a gay man. But don’t worry. I get a full checkup done every year. I’m healthy and safe, so you don’t have to look at me like that.”

Bethany was rendered speechless. She was about to explain herself, but Silas stepped on the gas and drove out of the nursing home.

Noah had just finished dinner with some clients and had taken a few drinks. He loosened his tie and rubbed his forehead in

irritation.

With the car window halfway down, the rushing wind whipped against his cheek, calming his restless mood just a little.

He didn’t know why, but when he was alone, he often thought of Bethany’s innocent face.

Bethany wasn’t strikingly beautiful, but the longer he looked, the more comforting her presence felt.

Noah never thought that someone like her would unknowingly become part of his life. Even after she left, he found himself oddly unsettled.

At this moment, his black Bentley slowly merged into traffic. Cars whizzed past Noah’s eyes one by one.

Just then, a flashy purple Bugatti sped by.

Noah’s eyes suddenly narrowed. He’d thought he saw Silas sitting in the Bugatti that just went by.

Thinking about it now, that model and color were unmistakable. There was only one Bugatti in the country that matched that description, and it was registered to Silas.

But there seemed to be a woman in the passenger seat.

Noah had heard rumors about Silas‘ arranged marriage floating around. Was the woman in the car his fiancee?

Silas nearly floored the accelerator, rushing back to his villa.

Bethany’s face was pale as she got out of the car.

Silas strode forward with a hint of anger burning beneath the surface, while Bethany trailed behind him, looking unwell.

Almost as soon as she entered, she ran to the bathroom and vomited.

Her stomach churned in a sour mix, sweat beading on her forehead from the pain.

When her stomach was finally empty, Bethany collapsed by the toilet and heard a knock on the door.

Silas‘ voice shook slightly with concern as he called out, “Bethany, open up. Are you okay?”

A flash of irritation rose in Bethany. If he hadn’t driven so fast just now, she wouldn’t feel so awful.
