Chapter 59
But Silas‘ reputation in their high–society circle was even worse than Noah’s.
Bethany, however, didn’t seem to mind. “I’m fine with it. Silas and I registered our marriage by accident. Besides, we both got what we needed out of it. It’s a one–year contractual marriage. We’ll get a divorce after a year.
“I have full ownership of my dad’s hotel shares, and he can appease his family. As for the gossip surrounding him, I don’t really care.”
Holly finally understood. “But Beth, does Uncle Noah know about this?”
Everyone knew that Silas and Noah were bitter rivals. The Brennan family and the Vazquez family had been at odds for a long time now.
If Noah found out that Silas married Bethany, he might just lose his mind.
Holly continued, “Actually, forget it. Regardless of whether or not he’s aware, he’s about to marry someone else. He cheated on you first. If he regrets it later, that’s on him!”
Holly patted her chest. “Beth, don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone about this–not even Uncle Noah. I want to see his face when he finds out you married his nemesis. That’ll drive him mad for sure!”
Bethany chuckled. She never meant to use Silas to spite Noah. From the start, her only goal was to secure shares in Elysian through the marriage.
“I feel so much better after telling you everything.”
Bethany had been holding all this in for a long time. It was no wonder Silas joked that she was like a turtle, constantly holding in her emotions.
“Beth, I may be useless, but if Silas dares to bully you, I’ll be the first to go after him. That said, you need to watch out for yourself, too. Their circle is wild. Lots of people have caught nasty diseases…”
Holly suddenly realized she’d misspoken and quickly added, “I’m not badmouthing your husband, of course. But if you’re going to fake the marriage, just keep up the act when necessary, okay? Don’t get intimate or anything.”
Suddenly, Bethany thought about the kiss from yesterday, and her cheeks flushed faintly.
“Don’t worry. I won’t.”
She wouldn’t fall for him over just one kiss. After being betrayed, Bethany had lost the ability to take the initiative to love again.
Later that day, Holly frowned as she scrolled through her phone. “Beth, take a look at this. Isn’t this your husband?”
Bethany leaned over and glanced at the screen. When she read the headline, her eyebrows subtly arched.
The headline read, “Harem Scandal! Mr. Brennan Caught on Video with Male Escort! A Slap in the Face to His Fiancee!”
“That headline’s pretty dramatic,” Bethany commented calmly.
Holly was outraged. “Beth, aren’t you mad? That damned Silas! I thought he was a good guy.
“Not that I’m judging or anything, but their world is so messy. If he’s going to play around, can’t he at least keep it low–key?
Bethany comforted her by saying, “Don’t get so worked up. I’m the fiancee who got slapped in the face, and I’m not even mad.”
Holly lamented. “Beth, you’re way too nice. He’s definitely going to hurt you in the future.”
