I studied her face, seeing the genuine question beneath the playful tone. "I'll think about it."

Her hand flew up, smacking my chest. Hard. "Alright, think about it then. I'm leaving now."

She started to move away, but I grabbed her waist, pulling her back against me with enough force to make her gasp.

"Where the fuck are you going?" My arms locked around her. "You aren't supposed to leave this house."

"Oh, really?" She squirmed, but I held firm. "And who decided that?"

"I did." I kissed her neck, feeling her pulse jump. "Besides, I'm planning to get a new mansion. Something bigger. So we can all stay there together. You, me, and Ethan."

She went still in my arms. "A mansion?"

"Yeah. A real home. Not just my bachelor penthouse." My hands splayed across her stomach. "Somewhere with a proper yard for Ethan. Maybe a pool. Guest rooms for when your mom visits. An actual family home."

"You've thought about this."

"Every day since I found you again. Tell me what you need, and I'll make it happen."

She was quiet for a long moment. Then she shifted, settling back into my side in a more normal position, not quite as draped over me as before.

"I'll think about it later," she said, her voice soft. "Let's just watch the rest of the movie."

I wanted to push. Wanted to demand an answer right fucking now about the mansion, about us, about forever. But something in her tone made me hold back.

"Alright."

We sat like that, her body warm against mine, my arm around her shoulders. The movie continued with its predictable plot. The leads were now at some dramatic confrontation in the rain. Of course, it was raining.

Madison's hand rested on my thigh again, her touch light but deliberate. I traced circles on her shoulder through the sweater, feeling the softness of the fabric and the warmth of her skin beneath.

"I knew they'd end up in the rain," she murmured.

"It's a romantic comedy law. All big confessions happen in terrible weather."

"At least they committed to the cliche." She laughed quietly, the sound making something warm settle in my chest.

My hand moved from her shoulder down her arm, then back up in slow strokes. Nothing aggressive, just touching her because I could. Because she was here, in my penthouse, letting me hold her.

She shifted closer, her leg hooking over mine. The position brought her body flush against my side, and I tightened my hold automatically.

On screen, the male lead was giving some impassioned speech about how he'd been an idiot. The woman stood there crying in the rain, mascara running down her face. Dramatic as hell, but Madison seemed invested.

"You think she'll forgive him?" I asked.

"Obviously. Look at her face. She's already forgiven him, just making him work for it." Madison tilted her head up to look at me. "Women like to see men grovel a little."

"That so?"

"Absolutely." Her fingers traced the inseam of my pants, just barely, making my cock twitch. "Makes us feel powerful."

"You want me to grovel?"

"Maybe." She smiled, that teasing glint in her eyes. "Depends on what you're groveling for."

I caught her hand before it could wander higher. "Dangerous game you're playing."

"Who says I'm playing?"

"Madison." Her name came out rough. "We're supposed to be waiting for Ethan to fall asleep, remember?"

"I am waiting. Just passing the time." She pulled her hand free. "Very patiently."

"Your version of patience is fucking torture."

She laughed, turning back to the movie. The leads were kissing now, rain pouring down around them, music swelling dramatically. The kind of kiss that was completely impractical but looked good on screen.

"See? Told you they'd end up together."

"You're a genius."

"I know."
