Starla's intuition was spot on. Fairfax was highly suspicious of her death, which was why he refused to sign the divorce papers.
But he underestimated Yardley's cruelty.
Yardley had given him twenty-four hours. If he missed the deadline, the consequences would be catastrophic.
His phone buzzed, dragging him out of his dark thoughts. It was Darian Lynn.
"Speak," Fairfax answered, his tone rough. With Amos gone, he had no one to talk to, though Darian hardly counted as a confidant. Their paths had diverged wildly since Marina City.
"Is it... is it true?" Darian's voice cracked.
"Is what true?"
Tanya. Fairfax remembered Darian's obsessive infatuation. It was poetic justice. Darian used to mock Fairfax, calling Starla his karma for not picking a docile socialite. Now Darian had walked into his own trap, burning bridges with the Lynn family for a woman.
"You should let her go," Fairfax advised.
Did Fairfax regret his own choices? Of course. But even knowing the pain, he didn't want to let Starla go. Even if she were truly dead, that unresolved marriage license was his final comfort.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
