A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1150

But now that the entire Yelchin family was trapped over there, Fairfax seemed completely indifferent. It made sense, though. With Starla gone, his entire universe had collapsed. Nothing else mattered to him anymore.

"No," Susanna admitted quietly.

She didn't plan on telling him. She hadn't even wanted him to rescue her the first time. She had already lost her eldest brother to this feud; she couldn't bear to let Fairfax throw his life away too.

"You still need to tell him," Amos insisted.

"No! I can't let him know." If Fairfax found out, he would physically stop her from leaving.

"Yardley specifically demanded that I return," she said, her voice laced with despair.

At the end of the day, Yardley was just using her family to pull her strings. Where could she possibly run? There was no escaping him. He held all the cards.

"You still need to talk to your brother," Amos maintained firmly. Whatever sick game Yardley was playing, Fairfax deserved to know.

Susanna stayed stubbornly silent.

When Yvonne walked in looking for Amos, she immediately spotted the packed bag. Despite them all hiding out in the Cyrus Sea, she hated how Amos constantly hovered around Fairfax to play therapist. What was the point of consoling him? Every single disaster that had hit them was a direct result of Fairfax's own toxic choices.

Seeing Susanna ready to bolt, Yvonne's patience snapped. "And where do you think you're going?"

Things were already a chaotic nightmare, and now this girl was adding more drama to the pile. Yvonne had absolutely zero tolerance for anyone with the last name Yelchin.

Sensing the hostility, Susanna didn't bother replying. She just gave her a cold, empty stare.

"She's going to Yoran Country," Amos filled in.

Yvonne's tongue could be a lethal weapon when she wanted it to be. The sheer venom in her tone was enough to make anyone feel like they were suffocating.

She swatted his hand away and rolled her eyes. "I just can't stand people who beat around the bush! If someone threatens you, you ignore them, and they lose their leverage! If you actually play their little games, it just proves you secretly wanted an excuse to run back to them all along."

Susanna stared at her in stunned silence.

Amos sighed inwardly. There's no stopping this woman when she gets going.

It made sense why Yardley had eventually given up on trying to break Yvonne years ago. Her sharp tongue was a force of nature. When she wanted to leave, she had ruthlessly shredded his ego with her words.

Just like she said: be decisive. And her version of being decisive meant relentlessly going for the jugular.
