A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1195

"No. The adoptive parents passed away years ago. We currently have no idea where the girl is."

Rowena's chest tightened. They had been dead for years?

"So she's been entirely on her own all this time?"

"Yes, ma'am."

A heavy, aching sorrow washed over Rowena. After all these years of searching... finally, a solid lead. It felt as though someone had intentionally buried the clues before, but now, the truth was surfacing.

She took a steadying breath. "Find her. I want her found as quickly as possible."

"Understood."

Hanging up, Rowena gripped her phone so tightly her knuckles turned white. Finally, a piece of good news amidst the disaster her son was causing. Finding that girl would heal a wound she had carried for far too long.

...

Back in Smaro Town.

Starla met with Romy privately. "When did it start?" she asked bluntly.

"When did what start?"

"Your feelings for Herbert."

A small, knowing smile tugged at Romy's lips. "You figured it out?"

"You said you weren't here for me. Process of elimination."

Romy nodded. "Yeah. I came for him."

"The kind of woman who gets trapped by love." Romy had always seemed entirely immune to romantic entanglements. It baffled Starla that Herbert of all people was the one to break through.

"Look, you want to leave him anyway," Romy pointed out. "So don't worry about my reasons."

"Right," Starla agreed. She definitely intended to leave. She had been mapping out her escape route for a while now.

At dinner.

Herbert meticulously transferred all of Starla's favorite dishes onto her plate. She picked up her fork, glancing at him. "Romy came here for you."

"I know. You mentioned that," he replied flatly.

"You can't seriously be considering killing a girl who tracked you across the globe out of devotion, can you?"
