A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1241

Fairfax Yelchin glared at him, a dark, venomous look in his eyes that screamed he wanted to tear the other man limb from limb.

Herbert Farley calmly took the seat directly across from him.

"You've been with her this whole time, haven't you?" Fairfax demanded.

"You're divorced," Herbert stated plainly.

Fairfax was silent for a second. Then, with a violent crash, he kicked his chair aside, vaulted over the desk, and lunged right at Herbert.

He was already a powder keg, and Herbert's blunt reminder of the divorce was the spark that set him off. It struck his rawest nerve.

In a flash, the two men were locked in a brutal brawl.

Fairfax aimed a savage punch straight at Herbert's head, but the older man dodged it effortlessly. Their fight was vicious, every strike intended to inflict maximum damage. They were practically fighting to the death.

Fueled by pure hatred, Fairfax was relentless. But Herbert's combat skills were nearly unmatched.

Outside the office, Thad heard the commotion and rushed in to help. But the moment his foot crossed the threshold, Fairfax roared, "Get the hell out!"

Startled, the assistant quickly retreated, shutting the door behind him.

The sickening thud of fists meeting flesh and the crash of shattering objects echoed through the heavy oak door. Even without seeing it, Thad knew the scene inside was a bloodbath.

Fairfax genuinely wanted to kill Herbert. The agonizing torment he had endured over the past months—while Herbert was off playing house with Starla in secret—made his blood boil.

He wanted them both dead.

They fought until they lost track of time, stopping only when their bodies were covered in bruises and their energy was entirely spent.

She might not have cared about the rest of the family, but Fairfax? His attitude toward her had mattered.

"Did you forget what she went through after marrying you?" Herbert asked coldly. "Even without what happened to her mother, she still would have wanted your entire family dead!"

Fairfax stiffened, the dangerous glint in his eyes sharpening.

Herbert wasn't wrong. Even without the tragedy of her mother, Starla had grown to despise the Yelchins to her core. She had wanted a divorce for a long time. Her retaliation against them had started long before she even knew about her mother.

"Have you forgotten how many times you hurt her for Brinley Seabrook?"

The mention of Brinley sent an uncontrollable, icy shudder through Fairfax. He stared at Herbert, a suffocating weight settling over his chest.

Herbert's voice was merciless. "You hate her? What right do you have?"
