The moment Susanna stepped out of the car, she ran right into Starla walking out. Susanna's lips curled into a sneer, her eyes practically dripping with disgust.
Starla barely spared her a glance. Her expression remained icy and detached. It was obvious that even laying eyes on a member of the Yelchin family felt like a waste of energy.
She kept walking, wanting nothing to do with her.
But Susanna stepped squarely into her path.
Starla narrowed her eyes. "Move."
Those words... probably the most forceful she had spoken lately. It was a reminder to herself not to feel guilty, and certainly not to let herself be manipulated.

Susanna's glare darkened at the sheer chill in her tone. How dare she speak to her like that?
"Hah. I was so wrong," Susanna spat.
Starla remained silent.
"Back when you were with my family, no matter what my mother or Xenia said about you, I genuinely thought you had a good heart. But now I see they had every reason to make your life hell. People aren't hated for no reason!"
Starla raised an eyebrow. "So you're saying I should blame myself for almost dying at their hands?"
Ah, victim-blaming at its finest.
The tension between them spiked, crackling in the air. Susanna's glare grew downright lethal.
