But as far as she knew, he hadn't secured that promotion yet. Given Brinley's arrogant scheming, one would think Harriet's problems in Yoran Country were already solved.
"Are her troubles over?" Starla asked.
"Arthur is an extremely cunning man," Yardley replied. "She was played."
Starla fell silent. So Harriet had been duped. That meant they wouldn't even need to intervene further.
"Yelchin Group is also dealing with one problem after another right now," Yardley continued. "Just choose your moment carefully."
"Understood," she said. Her brother was the one causing all the trouble for the Yelchin Group. His pieces were already in place. The original plan was for Starla to keep causing chaos until Fairfax couldn't take it anymore and agreed to a divorce. But this new development was even better. Not only was Starla creating trouble, but Brinley was helping her. Maybe they could give him such a headache he'd just give in.
...
Back at the hospital, Darleen and Xenia were returning from the doctor's office when they ran into Fairfax in the hallway.
Seeing him, Darleen's eyes immediately reddened. "Fairfax."
"Fairfax," Xenia echoed.
Fairfax stood tall, his hands shoved in his pockets. He looked down at the two women with a cold, condescending gaze that made Xenia's skin crawl. Her credit card was still frozen, and she was nearly out of money. But with the constant stream of crises in the Yelchin family, she didn't dare bring it up. The thought made her burn with resentment for Starla. It was all that damn woman's fault for stirring up trouble and dragging her into it.
"Didn't she slit her wrists? Why aren't you with her?"
Fairfax's voice was frigid and dangerously distant, not how one should speak to family. His tone left both Darleen and Xenia feeling breathless.
Brinley nodded, her expression heavy. "I know."
"We have to use this incident to make Fairfax personally send Starla to prison," Sally urged.
"You're rightโฆ" Brinley began to agree.
Suddenly, the door to the hospital room swung open. Both Brinley and Sally jumped, their heads snapping toward the entrance.
It was Fairfax, standing in the doorway, his entire being radiating an icy chill.
In that instant, Brinley and Sally felt their hearts leap into their throats.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
