The sight of Fairfax in the doorway made Brinley’s heart pound, especially when her eyes met his cold, sharp gaze. Had he heard everything?
“F-Faraday?”
After a brief moment of shock, Brinley’s eyes reddened. She stared at Fairfax, her expression turning to one of pure anguish. Tears came instantly, streaming down her cheeks.
Fairfax glanced at her wrist, where a tight bandage was soaked with a fresh stain of blood. His eyes narrowed.
The look was enough to make Sally tense up, her body going rigid with fear. Brinley felt a wave of panic under his intimidating presence, as if there was nowhere to hide.
“When… when did you get here?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“Are you afraid?” Fairfax countered.
“What?”
The word “afraid” made her heart lurch violently. She could hardly bear to look him in the eye.
Fairfax’s gaze sharpened. “What are you afraid of?”
“I’m… I’m not!”
She denied it, but her entire body was shaking, and Sally, beside her, was trembling just as hard.
They had been bold enough to use the child as a pawn in their scheme, but deep down, they were terrified of Fairfax finding out. They knew his reputation in Marina City all too well. If he discovered they had staged the kidnapping, the consequences would be unthinkable.
Because of that, Brinley and Sally had prepared meticulously for this moment.
He had stationed numerous guards outside Brinley’s room, with female guards inside, specifically to prevent her from causing trouble. Now, not a single one was in sight.
The chill radiating from him was palpable.
“Harriet was very unhappy when she saw them earlier,” Darleen explained.
It was because of Harriet that she'd had no choice but to dismiss them. She now regretted sending all the guards away. If they had been here, none of this would have happened. The constant drama was utterly exhausting.
Fairfax turned to Gabriel, who stood behind him. “Get them all back here. Now.”
Gabriel nodded. “Yes, sir.”
Seeing Fairfax impose his cold control over her again, Brinley’s tears began to fall uncontrollably, dripping onto the sterile hospital floor.

Why The ML is Idiot 😂😂😂 i Dont understand,i Think herbert is more suitable to become the ML he is most compose and calm than the ML 😂😂...
"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
