Fairfax’s gaze turned glacial. "You want the entire Yelchin Group and this estate?"
"Will you give them to me?" she asked, her expression unreadable.
Fairfax’s lips tightened into a thin line as he stared at her. She might as well have asked to strip the Yelchin family of everything they had ever owned.
"I'm not asking for much," she added coolly. She didn't need to say more. It was an open secret how the Yelchin Group had been built on unethical, black-hearted dealings. A fortune built on such foundations deserved to be lost.
Fairfax was beyond furious. The entire Yelchin Group? He would never give it to her. He had never imagined she would be so audacious, demanding everything. It was no different from asking him to leave with nothing but the clothes on his back.
With a sudden roar of fury, Fairfax stood up and kicked the dining chair over with a loud crash. Without another word, he stormed out of the house.
The front door slammed shut. A moment later, the sound of a roaring engine faded into the distance. Fairfax was gone.
Starla watched the overturned chair, a faint smile playing on her lips. "What on earth does he eat? His bones are so tough."
That kick should have at least made him limp, but his leg seemed perfectly fine.
Garret looked at Starla thoughtfully. "Miss, you've made a demand he can never accept."
"It doesn't matter. I can wait."
After all, she held all the cards now. What did she have to worry about? They were the ones who should be panicking.
"The Yelchin Group," Starla said, her voice turning cold, "even if I can't have it, I will destroy it."
"It's not much different from being destroyed now," Garret noted. The group's overseas operations had been completely blocked by Yardley. The assets in Marina City were all the family had left.
"I don't want a single speck of dust to remain," she declared.
Hearing this, Darleen's face darkened further. As if it was all their fault!
"Call Susanna," Darleen snapped, as if just remembering her other daughter. If anyone in the Yelchin family had been on good terms with Starla, it was Susanna. While everyone else looked down on Starla, Susanna had always been kind.
Darleen's reminder made Xenia think of her sister, whose presence in the family was so faint she was easily forgotten. Her cold, distant personality didn't exactly endear her to anyone.
"Why would I call her?" Xenia grumbled. Every conversation with Susanna ended in a lecture. She couldn't stand her.
"Haven't you noticed?" Darleen said, her mind racing. "Every single Yelchin property was burned down, but we haven't heard a word about Susanna's place. That means her apartment is still standing."
Her intention was clear: she couldn't take this anymore. They would go and stay with Susanna.
Xenia understood but grimaced. "Have you forgotten? Susanna lives in a tiny one-room studio. It's barely big enough for her. Where would we sleep? There's no extra room!"
