“As for Fairfax,” Tanya continued, shaking her head. “I used to think he was so capable, but look at him now. After all this time, he still can’t see Brinley for who she is! He even saw her getting into Felix Fowler’s car with his own eyes and somehow still blames you!”
She scoffed. “Honestly, a man like that is a curse. Whoever ends up with him is in for a world of misery.”
“He blames me, yes, but he’s still investigating them,” Starla said calmly.
In his pursuit of Brinley, he had inadvertently stumbled upon Starla’s own assets and her plans to relocate to Yoran Country. It proved that Fairfax’s people were competent, she had to admit, even if their efforts were completely misdirected.
“Knowing him,” Tanya warned, “he’ll probably uncover something incriminating and still find a way to blame it on you. It’s what he does.”
Starla didn't disagree. It was certainly possible. Blaming her had become a habit for Fairfax, and it wouldn't be surprising if he did it again. But she no longer cared.
“Let him,” she said with a shrug. Heartlessness makes one invincible, and it was true. The moment she had let go of her feelings for Fairfax, he had lost all power to hurt her.
“So when are you going to officially sever ties with him?” Tanya asked. After all, they were still legally married. “I’m worried that once he finds out you’re Yardley’s sister, he’ll refuse to grant you a divorce.”
Few people knew her true identity. Given how badly the Hoggart Group was crushing him, it was a legitimate concern. If Fairfax discovered her connection right as she was preparing to return to Yoran Country, he might try to cling to the marriage for leverage.
Starla froze. The thought hadn't even crossed her mind.
“In that case,” she said, her voice hardening with new resolve, “I need to get my hands on everything the Yelchin family owns, and fast.”
Since Starla had lunch plans with Herbert, Tanya left after a short while.
Herbert was no longer making any attempt to hide his association with Starla. When Fairfax learned she was at the biotech company, he rushed over, only to see her walking out of the building alongside Herbert.
He remembered seeing her here before and assuming she was just an employee at Herbert's company. How ridiculous that seemed now. The woman who had slept beside him for years, and he had known nothing about her at all.
As they reached the car, Herbert moved to open the door for her.
An instinctual urge to rush forward seized Fairfax, but his legs felt as if they were filled with lead, rooting him to the spot.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
