Fairfax was suspicious of her now. No, he could doubt her about anything else, but not the child. If he did, her last hope of staying in the Yelchin estate would be gone.
“You’re not going to answer?” Fairfax’s voice turned colder still when Brinley remained silent.
Brinley trembled. “No. You can doubt anything you want, but not the child’s parentage. That would be a stain on him for the rest of his life.”
“You can say I’m a bad person, but you can’t say that about my son. He was just born. He doesn’t know anything,” Brinley pleaded, her voice filled with anguish. She sounded like a helpless mother fighting for her child, hoping this act would rekindle some of Fairfax's old trust.
It was a desperate move, but she had no other choice.
She knew that if Fairfax started trusting her again, it would only make Starla despise her more, making her life in the manor even more difficult. But she was out of options. If Fairfax ever found out the baby wasn't Faraday's, her situation wouldn't just be difficult—it would be impossible. Not just in the Yelchin estate, but in all of Marina City.
So, no matter what, she had to protect the secret of her child’s paternity.
If Fairfax discovered the baby was Felix's… Brinley couldn't even begin to imagine the horrific fallout.
Fairfax said nothing, simply staring at her with a cold, unreadable expression.
Growing frantic under his silent gaze, Brinley cried out, “Fairfax.”
Watching the tearful performance and Fairfax's wavering resolve, Starla let out a scornful laugh. “What stain? It wouldn’t be hard for a family as powerful as the Yelchins to arrange a discreet paternity test, would it?”
Brinley's heart sank. This bitch! Couldn't she just shut her mouth? It was obvious Fairfax was hesitating, yet Starla still had to push it.
Though she was seething with rage, Brinley didn't dare talk back to Starla. No matter how much Starla provoked her, she had to endure it. All she could do was turn her tear-filled eyes to Fairfax.
“Fairfax…”
Before she could say more, Starla cut in. “Then again, it seems you’re not all that interested in securing those benefits for your son. Or even…”
She paused, a faint smile touching her lips. “...his chance to live.”
Brinley’s blood ran cold.
Fairfax’s expression hardened.

Why The ML is Idiot 😂😂😂 i Dont understand,i Think herbert is more suitable to become the ML he is most compose and calm than the ML 😂😂...
"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
