A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 576

When Starla emphasized the word “insist,” Fairfax’s expression darkened even further.

It was obvious…

In his mind, everything Starla was doing now was a deliberate act to humiliate Brinley and her child.

But Starla didn’t care.

She simply needed to confirm whether the child was truly Faraday’s.

If he was, she would help save him.

But if he was the product of Brinley’s affair with Felix, why should she lift a finger? What would that make her in the end?

Her resolve was absolute, and even Fairfax was powerless against it.

Finally, under Starla’s unwavering gaze, Fairfax rose to his feet, seething with anger, and stormed out of the room.

He slammed the library door behind him with a resounding “bang,” the sound echoing the sheer depth of his fury.

Starla let out a cold laugh, murmuring to herself, “Impotent rage.”

Wasn't that all Fairfax's anger amounted to now? Impotent rage.

If it hadn’t been for that incident, Starla never would have wanted to push things this far with him. Her original plan had been to take her rightful share, sever all ties with Fairfax, and never see him again.

But things were different now.

Now, she was determined to bring the Yelchin family, a dynasty that had stood in Marina City for a hundred years, to its knees.

Brinley had intended to wait for Fairfax in the warm lobby downstairs, but she had been outside for less than two minutes before being forced back into the cold.

This was Starla’s calculated cruelty.

The entire Yelchin family was now forced to work outdoors, exposed to the elements.

And they had no idea when, or if, this nightmare would ever end.

Fairfax’s brow furrowed. “This will be over soon.”

Even as he said it, the words lacked conviction.

Who in all of Marina City would have ever dared to trample all over him like this? No one.

But things were different now. Even he was powerless against Starla.

It was ironic, really. This was the woman he had chosen, once so gentle and obedient. But beneath that gentle facade, she had been hiding fangs. Now, those fangs were bared, catching them all, including him—Fairfax himself—completely off guard.

Brinley didn’t respond, her voice filled with sorrow as she said, “I don’t know if it will ever be over. Right now, all I want is for Justin to get to Marina City as soon as possible.”

As she spoke, her voice was heavy with anguish.

Fairfax said nothing.
