A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 669

After getting into the car, Gabriel drove Fairfax toward the office.

While waiting at a red light, Gabriel finally couldn't hold back his curiosity. "Why didn't we call the cops on Brinley?"

The evidence proving Brinley and Felix had conspired to murder Faraday was practically undeniable at this point. Under these circumstances, shouldn't they have just tossed both of them straight into prison?

Instead, Brinley was still residing at the Yelchin estate, and Felix was out there roaming free!

"You want to send them to jail so they can live comfortably?" Fairfax replied coldly.

Handing them over to the police, letting the legal system dole out a standard punishment—that would honestly be a vacation for those two compared to what they deserved.

Gabriel paused, letting the words sink in, and quickly realized exactly what Fairfax meant.

When you really thought about it...

Was Felix actually 'roaming free'? His current life was far from a joyride! Brinley was being tormented daily at the estate, and Felix's situation over at the Fowler household wasn't much better. He was on the verge of bringing the entire Fowler Group to its knees. Did anyone really think his family was going to let him off the hook?

"There is something weird, though," Gabriel noted.

"What's weird?"

"It's about the baby." The child was confirmed not to be of the Yelchin bloodline and was almost certainly Felix's. "Why hasn't Felix taken the baby with him? And Brinley... I mean, she is the mother of his child."

Gabriel trailed off, not quite sure how to articulate it, but the more he thought about it, the more wrong it felt.

Fairfax frowned, a flicker of doubt crossing his face as well. "Has Felix been visiting the baby at the hospital?"

But now... he had lost absolutely everything to protect a monster. Fairfax genuinely felt the urge to kill.

"Do you think Felix might have another move planned against the Yelchin family?" Gabriel asked.

"A plan?" The temperature in Fairfax's eyes plummeted to absolute zero.

Was it a plan? With everything completely exposed, you didn't need to be a genius to figure out what Felix's original endgame had been. Fairfax hadn't expected the old grudges between Felix and Faraday to result in such a massive, twisted chess game against their entire family!

However, shouldn't that scheme have died the second the baby's true identity was revealed?

Thinking back to Brinley's desperate attempts to save the child—the way she was practically being forced into corners just to keep the boy alive—it was obvious Felix still needed that kid breathing.
