And yet, he showed no intention of actually taking the child away.
So Gabriel's theory that Felix still had some sort of scheme up his sleeve wasn't entirely baseless.
"But what else could he possibly be plotting?" Fairfax murmured.
If the baby's true lineage hadn't been dragged into the light, Felix could have spun whatever narrative he wanted! But things were different now.
The boy had been definitively proven to have no Yelchin blood. How could any plan move forward from there?
"I don't know the specifics, but the Fowlers are notorious for playing games," Gabriel warned.
"..." Fairfax's eyes glinted with a lethal chill. "Playing games? Hah."
If the Fowlers wanted to rely on smoke and mirrors, then he would just have to be utterly ruthless in tearing them down. Fairfax closed his eyes, taking a slow breath. When he opened them again, a razor-sharp resolve had settled in his gaze.
...
Back at the Yelchin estate.
Darleen's hatred for Brinley was now completely unmasked, stripped of any restraint.
Whenever she caught sight of Brinley, she either hurled vicious insults or physically assaulted her. Right now, Brinley arguably had the most miserable existence of anyone in the house.
Beaten by Darleen!
Pressured by Harriet!
Completely discarded by Felix...
Tanya Mercer sat across from Starla, taking a leisurely sip of her coffee. She watched as Brinley received yet another slap from Darleen and clicked her tongue. "Not too long ago, Brinley was the most arrogant person in this house. Everyone worshipped the ground she walked on."
"She didn't appreciate what she had," Starla replied, summarizing Brinley's drastic fall from grace in a few short words.
If Brinley hadn't gone out of her way to attack Starla when she was at the peak of her power, Starla wouldn't have torn her down so brutally. And her filthy little secret with Felix might not have been exposed quite so fast.
Starla let out a soft laugh. "It's not that I don't want a divorce. I just want what's owed to me."
"When Fairfax originally offered me a fifty-billion settlement, that was fine. But do you honestly think this divorce is just about fifty billion anymore?"
"Fair point," Tanya nodded. "It's not just about money when there are three lives attached to it!"
Hearing the phrase 'three lives', Starla instinctively glanced at Tanya, her expression hardening into stone.
"Two babies, and your mother," Tanya clarified gently.
"If you look at it that way, then he really does deserve to die," Starla replied casually.
It sounded offhand. But beneath the nonchalant delivery, Tanya could hear the absolute, bone-deep sincerity. It wasn't just hatred directed at Fairfax anymore. It was murderous intent!
"He absolutely deserves it!" Tanya agreed. "The great CEO of the Yelchin Group, brought to his knees by you!"
"He's probably running himself ragged trying to keep up, isn't he?"

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
