That evening, Herbert took Starla out to a highly-rated restaurant. On the drive back, he casually took her hand in his. "Do you have to go to the Yelchin estate?"
He intentionally used the word 'go' instead of 'return'. In his eyes, that place had never been her home.
Starla instinctively tried to slip her hand from his broad palm, but his grip tightened. Unable to pull away, she felt an unfamiliar, warm flush spread through her.
"I have to. There isn't much time left, and I don't intend to let them enjoy what little time remains."
She had promised herself that as long as she stayed at the estate, she would be the source of their daily torment. She wanted them suffocating under her presence every single second.
"How much longer?" Herbert asked softly.
"Not long."
"Will Fairfax actually agree to your terms?"
Her terms were astronomical. She wanted the entire Yelchin Group. Knowing Fairfax's temperament, Herbert assumed there was zero chance he would hand over his family's legacy.
Herbert preferred she just sever ties and walk away completely. If she wanted, he could personally dismantle the Yelchin Group for her. If she hated the company so much, destroying it was just as effective as owning it.
But Starla had refused. She claimed that the Yelchin Group was built on her mother's blood.
"Even if he refuses, the rest of the Yelchin family will crack first," Starla stated confidently. "They might be fighting it now, but they'll be begging to hand it over soon enough."
The extended family was currently holding out because they hadn't suffered enough. Once the pain became unbearable, they would break long before Fairfax did.
Herbert rubbed his thumb over her knuckles. "Little fox."
Her campaign against the Yelchins seemed like brute force on the surface, but underneath, it was a calculated psychological dismantling of the entire family.
She was right. Even if Fairfax stubbornly clung to the company, his relatives would likely force his hand.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
