A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 790

"You really missed the big picture here," Caden chuckled, finally catching his breath. "Mrs. Lynn is an idiot. She went so hard on you that she accidentally nuked her own son's street value. Hahaha!"

Tanya couldn't argue with that logic.

"See? Don't rush into aborting the baby. With a family that stupid, you could totally outsmart them and marry into the money." To Caden, it sounded like an easy win.

Tanya's slight amusement vanished. "Who says I want to marry into their money? I don't give a damn about the Lynn family."

"If you don't care, why were you dating him?"

Tanya opened her mouth, then closed it. It was a fair point. "I liked him as a person."

"The moment you decided you liked him, you should have known getting past his family was going to be a nightmare."

Tanya rubbed her temples. Her brain hurt. Starla had once mentioned that Caden was lovable but a bit dense. Right now, Tanya felt like the dense one for getting dragged into his weird logic.

"Whatever, stop talking nonsense," she dismissed, too exhausted to keep up the argument. "I have to get this abortion. Can you just leave now?"

"You said the hospital couldn't do it today, right?"

"Yeah. The schedule was full."

"Well, if it's tomorrow, you won't be able to do it anyway."

Tanya frowned.

"Darian knows now," Caden pointed out reasonably. "He'll be here. Your focus shouldn't be on the procedure anymore."

...

Back in Yoran Country, Starla had endured another grueling day of training.

Fresh out of the shower, she saw a missed call from Tanya. When she called back, Tanya sighed into the receiver, "Darian found out about the baby."

"And?"

Starla could feel a massive headache coming on. Between Tanya's escalating drama and the bizarre undercurrents in her own life, the peace she had hoped to find in Yoran Country was completely shattered.

Her phone buzzed with another text from Fairfax. Just two sickeningly sweet words: *Goodnight, wifey!*

He was like a relentless parasite, constantly prodding her sanity. Staring at the screen, Starla felt a violent surge of rage. She wanted to book a flight to the Cyrus Sea and slaughter him herself.
