"Actually, sir, he might know," Rudolf corrected. "They aren't in Marina City anymore. The intelligence network in the Cyrus Sea is vastly different. Amos and Harker almost certainly know exactly who she is."

Herbert's eyes narrowed to lethal slits. "He knows who she is, and he still aligned with them?"

"It completely defies logic," Rudolf admitted. "If he didn't know, joining them would just permanently destroy any chance he had left with her. But if he *does* know, and he still joined them... I have no idea what his endgame is."

Seeing Darian sprint down the hall, Caden nearly collapsed with relief. "Thank God you're here! She wouldn't listen to a damn word I said!"

"What's the status?" Darian gasped, looking wild with panic.

"She's prepping for the procedure right now!"

Darian looked like he had been struck by lightning. He bolted toward the surgical wing, screaming over his shoulder at Caden, "Why the hell didn't you stop her?!"

"How was I supposed to stop her?!" Caden yelled back defensively. "Tackle her to the floor? Hold her hostage? You can't just aggressively manhandle a woman in a hospital!"

Darian spun around, glaring at Caden with enough fury to incinerate him on the spot.

"Hey, I'm just telling the truth!" Caden shouted, holding his hands up in surrender.
