Tanya had likely figured out that Caden was a gentleman who strictly respected personal boundaries, which was exactly why she was acting so fearlessly.

By the time Darian arrived, sweating bullets, it was already too late.

Tanya wasn't in the waiting area outside the operating room. She had already gone inside.

Caden's heart dropped when he saw the empty hallway. "Wait, what? The doctor just told me it would be at least another hour before they took her!"

Hearing that he had an hour, Caden had frantically called Darian. Worried his friend wouldn't be able to find the right department, he had even gone downstairs to meet him!

The whole thing had taken maybe thirty minutes. How was she already gone?

Darian's heart pounded violently against his ribs. His emotions were teetering dangerously on the edge of a total meltdown. He couldn't wait another second.

To Caden's absolute horror, Darian lifted his leg and kicked the heavy doors of the operating suite.

"Wait, what are you—"

The doors burst open with a deafening crash under the sheer force of the kick.

Caden scrambled to grab his arm, terrified. "Darian, are you insane?! This is a hospital! An operating room!"

No matter how angry he was, he couldn't just tear apart a surgical ward. Besides, Caden had never seen Darian this blindingly furious. The rage radiating off him was completely uncontrollable.

Darian shoved him off, ignoring him entirely, and stormed straight inside.

Caden rushed to keep up.

A doctor stepped in front of Darian to block his path, but Darian's expression was murderous. "Where is Tanya Mercer?"

"Sir, you need to leave immediately! This is a sterile surgical environment—"

"I said, where is Tanya?! Tell me right now, or I'll tear this entire place to the ground!"

Caden winced.

He was losing it. He had completely lost his mind. Caden used to watch Fairfax go scorched-earth crazy over Starla and always thought Darian was the rational, restrained one out of their social circle. He never imagined Darian was capable of this kind of manic desperation.

"Son of a..." Caden muttered under his breath.

The endless drama between these couples was going to give him an ulcer. He must have owed them big time in a past life.

At least the baby was safe for now.

But thinking about the fallout, especially with the older generation of the Lynn family, Caden broke out in a cold sweat for his friend.
