"I'm just saying, make her completely give up on him, and you might actually have a chance," Amos continued, unbothered.
"How?" Fairfax genuinely wanted Starla to sever all ties with Herbert.
"Women despise other women," Amos stated wisely.
"Isn't Brinley enough of a wedge?" Just hearing that name made Fairfax's blood boil. He had lost his wife because of Brinley. Now Starla was tearing Herbert apart over her, too.
"Herbert isn't romantically involved with Brinley. You, on the other hand, looked like you were head over heels for her. That's why you lost your wife," Amos observed cheerfully.
"When was I ever interested in Brinley?" Fairfax roared.
"I don't know, but you sure acted like it! Women hold grudges. You were so hyper-focused on Brinley that you neglected your own wife."
"Shut your mouth," Fairfax hissed, his face a mask of absolute fury. If Amos kept talking, Fairfax was going to snap his neck.
"My point is, if Herbert makes the same exact mistake, your wife will drop him just as fast," Amos reasoned. "Let me arrange it for you. You just focus on the Black Sea."
