A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 906

Aldo was stunned into silence.

...

The moment Herbert ended Rudolf's call, he dialed Fairfax's number directly.

Fairfax was already en route to the Black Sea! Seeing Herbert's name flash on the screen, he instantly knew Seymour had succeeded in securing Starla.

He answered the phone with a slow drawl. "Brother?"

The word dripped with biting sarcasm.

Back when their circle of friends was tight-knit, they had all habitually called Herbert 'Brother'. But at some point, everything had fractured!

Was it really because of Starla? No, Fairfax believed it was simply because Herbert was too greedy. It had nothing to do with a woman.

Hearing that title from him only darkened Herbert's already thunderous expression.

He closed his eyes. "Tell your man to bring her to the airport immediately. I'm waiting for her."

His tone was laced with dangerous authority, an absolute command.

On the other end of the line, Fairfax raised an eyebrow!

"Are you joking right now? Just because I called you brother, you actually think I still recognize you as one?"

Back in Marina City, during the fallout, he had already mentally severed ties with Herbert. Now, the bridge was completely burned!

"Brinley is dead," Herbert said coldly. "Starla is in massive trouble."

"Yeah, she's in massive trouble—and that trouble is *you*! What, are you trying to avenge Brinley?"

"Surprised?" Fairfax mocked. "Herbert, if I had realized what a two-faced snake Brinley was sooner, I would have stood by Starla's side without a second thought. I never would have let her get hurt."

His biggest regret in life was protecting Brinley. Out of loyalty to his late brother Faraday, he had shielded her so fiercely that he ended up destroying his own marriage.

He regretted it to his core. So, when he saw Starla getting dragged back into a toxic cycle because of that woman, he didn't hesitate—he simply had Brinley eliminated!

"You don't know the whole truth," Herbert growled. "What makes you think I was hurting Starla by keeping Brinley alive?"

"Then enlighten me. Don't tell me you were actually protecting Starla by doing that. Please, Herbert, don't make me laugh!"

Fairfax knew he had been a fool in the past, and it cost him his wife. Now, Herbert was being just as foolish regarding Brinley! No wonder Starla had completely shut him out!

Herbert's voice dropped to a deadly whisper. "Brinley is the person General Licht wants."

Fairfax paused.
