A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 923

She was supposed to be over this.

Her heart had turned to stone back in Marina City. It had been dead and buried.

She had completely flipped the Yelchin family upside down. They were supposed to be bitter enemies.

Yet, in the end... the woman he had always protected, the one Starla thought he favored above all else...

He had actually killed her.

Was this supposed to be his twisted way of giving her closure?

And now, this situation at the Black Sea...

Images of Herbert and Yardley flashed through Starla's mind, making her chest tighten painfully.

Tears slipped down her cheeks, completely out of her control.

"He made up his mind before he even walked out the door that day, didn't he?" she whispered.

He had known about the General and Brinley. He had known how dangerous the General's existence was to her.

"I don't know the details," Romy replied softly.

"What about the General?"

"Critically injured," Romy stated.

Critically injured.

Even someone like Yardley would go out of his way to avoid that man. If the General was critically injured, there was no way Fairfax had walked away unscathed.

He must have paid an unimaginable price.

"And Herbert? Yardley?" Starla's voice hardened.

She knew they would seize the opportunity to team up with the General and tear Fairfax apart. She couldn't even stomach calling Yardley her brother anymore.

"They got exactly what they wanted," Romy said grimly.

Starla let out a dark chuckle. Of course they did.

They got what they wanted. The General was critically injured.

"So... Fairfax is dead, isn't he?"

Romy didn't answer.
