Inside Harriet's hospital room, she was stewing in the most profound humiliation of her life. Every slight movement sent a jolt of agony through her body; even using the restroom was impossible on her own.
“Hiss… damn that Starla,” she muttered, feeling as though every bone in her body was broken. Her mind was consumed with a singular thought: tearing Starla to pieces.
But one thing bothered her. Why had Herbert gone to such lengths to help Starla against her? Could it be because he knew…?
The thought made Harriet’s scarred face freeze. But then she dismissed it. Impossible, right? Herbert hadn't found out after all these years. Why would he discover it now?
She couldn't unravel the mystery of why Herbert had intervened so dramatically. Just then, Fairfax walked in. An icy aura emanated from him, instantly plunging the room's temperature.
“Fairfax? What are you doing here?” Harriet was surprised to see him.
Fairfax was nothing like Faraday. Though they were twins, Faraday had a gentle, approachable demeanor—at least on the surface. What he was like in private was anyone’s guess. But Fairfax, whether in public or private, was terrifyingly grim.
As Harriet met the coldness in his eyes, her heart instinctively clenched.
Fairfax pulled a chair to the bedside and sat down. He took out a cigarette and lit it, the smoke quickly filling the room.
Harriet’s annoyance flared. Smoking in an elder’s hospital room? What kind of behavior was that?
But she didn’t dare say anything. Instead, her face grew stern. “Is there something you need from me?” she asked, her tone deliberately severe, a reminder that she was, after all, his elder.
Fairfax took another two drags, then exhaled a plume of smoke right in her direction.
“Him? What about him?” Harriet’s voice was strained. A terrible premonition gripped her.
“If nothing goes wrong,” Fairfax said casually, “he might just make it out of the hospital alive. But if something were to happen…”
He left the sentence hanging. The knot in Harriet’s throat tightened, making it hard to breathe.
“What are you going to do?” she asked through gritted teeth.
Fairfax flicked the ash from his cigarette. “What am I going to do? Why don’t you tell me what you were doing at Petal Villa today?” His voice was dangerously calm. “Harriet, don’t think for a second I won’t touch you. In my eyes, you’re nothing.”
The raw, undisguised threat left Harriet utterly frozen. She stared at Fairfax in disbelief. How could he speak to her like that? A surge of fury rose within her, but it was immediately extinguished by the vicious look in his eyes.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
