Abandoned While Pregnant, Claimed by the Alpha novel Chapter 118

Chapter 118

The air seemed to freeze completely in that instant. I forgot how to breathe.

His dark, bottomless eyes were swirling with a deep, indescribable undercurrent. My gaze, as if controlled by some invisible force, landed on his perfectly shaped lips, Goddess above! In those fleeting seconds, an utterly disgraceful desire burst from the depths of my soul. I wanted him to lean down, wanted him to kiss me with the lips that once ignited every part of me.

But nothing happened.

Hebert’s Adam’s apple moved slightly. The turbulent emotion that had filled his eyes faded in an instant, replaced by a clear and controlled determination. With practiced ease, he pulled his arms away from my waist and stepped back, putting a deliberate distance between us.

The cedar scent that had wrapped around me moments before was swept away by the cold air of the study. My knees felt weak, and I almost collapsed if not for my hands gripping the desk behind me for balance, clinging to it in a feeble attempt to stay

upright.

Hebert’s expression returned to his usual calm and detached state, without the slightest hint of emotion betraying him. He raised his long, welldefined fingers, casually adjusting the hem of his suit jacket, his breathing steady and unaffected.

I’ve arranged a professional styling team. The Lunar Gala is crucial for the Bloodmoon Pack. I expect you to show up with the presence befitting a Luna.He turned his back to me, his imposing and indifferent silhouette filling the room. Don’t be late.

With that, he strode toward the door. The wooden door opened and then closed behind him with a decisive finality.

Bang.

The dull thud of the door echoed in the spacious study, shattering the fleeting and ridiculous hope that had just stirred in my

chest.

I leaned against the edge of the desk, staring blankly ahead. The heart in my chest, which had pounded uncontrollably at his proximity moments before, now beat painfully slow, each thud dragging me down. A wave of indescribable loss rushed over me like dark waters, swallowing me whole. I could feel myself drowning.

It seemed everything was exactly as I had feared.

Last night, the Alpha who lost himself completely in the cramped resting roomthat wasn’t the real Hebert. That was just a beast, stripped of rationality by the raging fire of his heat. In the midst of that uncontrollable and primal urge, all he needed was a vessel, a female wolf who could ease his painful agony and help him release his desires.

But now, he was fully awake.

A toptier Alpha in complete control, how could he possibly feel any desire for an Omega carrying another man’s child? I lack a wolf spirit. I don’t have any noble status. Hell, I don’t even have a healthy body to speak of. That hug earlieryeah, let’s not get carried awayit was nothing more than a polite gesture, a small act of decency. He only did it to stop me, his standin Luna, from hitting my head on the desk, which might delay tonight’s banquet.

And yet, in that tiny, fleeting moment, like an idiot, I actually wished he’d kiss me!

You’re absolutely pathetic, Ashley,I bit down hard on my lower lip, practically screaming at myself inwardly.

I let out a heavy sigh and shut my eyes. Slowly, I took one long, deep breath, as if somehow it could push out every sharp twinge stabbing at my chest and purge those ridiculous daydreams along with it. My hand pressed hard against my stomach, desperately trying to suppress the nauseating discomfort stirred up by my swirling emotions. Stop dreaming. The venomous curse from that old hag Amara still lingered in my ears. No pack would ever truly accept a defect like me. The only person I could rely on was myself.

I snapped my eyes open, shoving all my weakness and despair into the deepest, darkest corner of my soul, Walking over to the dressing mirror, I stared at the palefaced woman reflected back at me.
