Chapter 139
“I’m not drunk!” he shot back, firm and steady. His hands came up to grip my face, forcing me to meet his gaze. I’m completely sober, Ashley! I never wanted to pressure you- I wanted to give you time, to ease into your life gently.”
He let out a heavy sigh, something raw and aching flickering in his eyes.
“I’ve been in love with you for years. And in my arrogance, I believed my patience was unshakable that I could wait as long as it took for you to open your heart to me.”
“But I was wrong.”
His voice cracked, trembling under the weight of everything he had been holding back.
“I overestimated myself. Every time you talked about leaving, every time you casually mentioned going somewhere else, it felt like my heart was being torn apart.”
Before I could react, he bent forward suddenly, his forehead pressing against mine, sharing that overwhelming warmth that made it hard to breathe.

“Ashley,” he whispered, each word sinking into me with molten heat, “what I feel for you isn’t just liking. It’s love. I’ve been hopelessly, completely in love with you for so long.”
I was completely stunned. Shock and a wave of unexpected joy surged through me, tangling into a messy knot I couldn’t untie. I opened my mouth, but no sound came out. I had no idea how to respond, but what surprised me most? My first instinct wasn’t to say no!
Hebert caught the flicker of hesitation and uncertainty in my eyes. His tense jawline finally relaxed, just a little.
“It’s okay.” He leaned in and lightly kissed the tip of my nose, his voice soft and full of patience. “You don’t have to rush into an answer right now. Take three days to think about it. And when those three days are up, I just want you to give me your honest answer.”
I swallowed hard, completely torn between confusion and a longing I didn’t want to admit, and gave him a small, hesitant nod.
Seeing me nod, Hebert didn’t let go of me.
Instead, he pressed hot, fervent kisses against my hair, my forehead, my ear. His warm breaths grazed my skin, and that raw, undeniable desire of a top Alpha radiated from him. His solid frame was pressed firmly against me, and I couldn’t ignore the clear heat of his arousal.
His hand slid up from my waist, perfectly finding its way to my breast. Even through the expensive fabric, a wild jolt of electricity shot through me, completely shattering my composure.
A chaotic mix of emptiness and intense longing roared within me. He had effortlessly ignited my desire, set it ablaze like wildfire.
Oh my god! I wasn’t resisting–at all. Instead, I leaned toward him, honest and raw. I wanted him. I wanted us.

The sharp sound of brakes echoed as the Maybach came to a smooth stop along the shadowy, tree–lined road.
The driver, quick on the uptake, opened the door and stepped out without hesitation, leaving the car in near silence.

Now, it was just the two of us in the luxurious cabin. The air between us buzzed with a searing tension, thick and undeniable.
Hebert let out a low, guttural growl, primal and unrestrained.
“Can I?” His voice was rough, almost breaking.
Instead of answering, I leaned in and kissed him. Since the divorce, it had been so long, far too long. I had my needs, and right now, sitting beside me was an Alpha a powerful, irresistible Alpha.
He yanked down the zipper of my dress, his hands rough as he kissed me my lips, my neck, moving lower, his mouth enveloping my breast.
The raw sensation made my body tremble, every nerve alight.
