Chapter 29
Brian’s POV
Honestly, I didn’t want to bring Silvia to any public event. After that damn banquet, my family had become a laughingstock among both the media and high society. Every time I saw those mocking headlines, it felt like my pride was being whipped-hard, with venom.
But today was different. This art exhibition was showcasing Silvia’s work, and all the proceeds would go to charity. This was the perfect chance to save face, to prove to everyone that the Blackwood Pack still had both compassion and class.
What I didn’t expect-what I couldn’t have predicted-was running into Ashley here.
She was wearing a scarlet dress I’d never seen before. That color-like freshly spilled blood-was so striking it almost made me forget how to breathe. The silk fabric clung to her frame, accentuating every curve I once knew so well. She looked… different. Like a rose blooming at midnight-dangerous, yet
undeniably captivating.
I froze. For a moment, my mind blanked, every coherent thought wiped away, leaving only the primal
instincts of a male.
“Oh my god, Brian-it’s Ashley,” Silvia whispered beside me, her voice a mix of awe and unease. “She…
she looks stunning.”
Silvia hesitated for a moment before adding carefully, “But… don’t you think her outfit is a bit… too revealing? After all, she’s still the Luna of the Blackwood Pack. Shouldn’t a Luna be more dignified, more elegant?”
Her words hit me like a switch, instantly clearing the haze of desire clouding my mind.
Dignity. Elegance.
And here she was, dressed like this? Like some cheap barmaid trying to pick up customers?
She was doing this on purpose. Humiliating me. After that disastrous banquet, this was her way of stomping on the Blackwood Pack’s reputation all over again, right in front of everyone.
A surge of anger blazed through me, burning away any fleeting admiration I might’ve felt. I glared at her, thinking the warning in my eyes would make her realize her mistake, feel ashamed, and hurry off to change out of that disgraceful dress.
But no. She didn’t even flinch. Instead, she raised her glass to me, her beautiful eyes filled not with
submission, but with icy, venom-laced defiance.
“What are you wearing?” I strode over, my voice cold and heavy, pushing down with every ounce of authority I could muster. “Do you even remember who you are? You represent the dignity of the
Blackwood Pack! Go and change out of that dress. Now.”

I expected her to react as she used to-fearful, her head bowing under my anger.
But instead, she smiled. “Dignity?” Her lips, painted in a shade so red it almost dripped like blood, curled as she spat out the words, every syllable drenched in mockery. “Brian, you show up at a public event with your mistress-so that’s your idea of ‘decorum’? Or maybe it’s having the entire wolf pack’s elite poisoned at your banquet, leaving them glued to their chairs? That’s what you call respectable?”
She took a step closer, the mix of champagne and her distinct scent weaving its way to me-like a feather teasing nerves I didn’t even know were on edge.
“And let’s not forget,” her voice lowered, but every word hit like a sledgehammer, “we’re in the middle of a divorce. Legally speaking, I’m no longer your Luna. You have no right-none-to dictate what I choose to
wear.”
Her words ignited the simmering anger inside me. I gripped her wrist, her skin so soft it sent an uninvited twinge through me. “Ashley, don’t forget. The only reason you’re standing here, invited to an event of this level, is because you’re still carrying my name. Without me, you’re nothing. Just an Omega without even a wolf spirit-you’d never set foot in a place like this without me.”
“Brian, stop, you’re hurting her!” Silvia’s voice chimed in unexpectedly. She stepped closer, lightly tugging at my sleeve, her face painted with just the right amount of concern. “Ashley, don’t
misunderstand. Brian’s just worried about the pack’s reputation, that’s all. Plus…well, I’m here because of
work being showcased. It’s not the same.”
my
“Oh my god, you’re not trying to sabotage my exhibition now, are you?” Silvia gasped dramatically. Her words were like oil poured on an already raging fire. My grip tightened. That’s right, Silvia earned her place here with her talent, but Ashley? She was nothing more than a parasite feeding off me!
“Did you hear that?” I tightened my grip on Ashley’s arm, satisfied to see her wince in pain. “If you don’t go change out of that dress right now, I’ll have security kick you out! You know Rebecca, the gallery owner, definitely respects the authority of Blackwood Pack’s Alpha.”
I thought she’d cave. I locked eyes with her, waiting-no, expecting-to see that familiar fear, that
submission I knew so well.
But then, out of nowhere, a man in a suit walked briskly toward us.
I recognized him. It was Leo, the assistant to the gallery curator.
“Leo,” I barked, not even letting go of Ashley’s arm. “Escort this woman out. Her inappropriate outfit is ruining the artistic vibe here.
“And don’t bother protesting. I know her. She’s my wife, and trust me, she’s decent in the kitchen, but
artistry? Not a chance,” I added with a sharp edge to my tone.
“Alpha, are you sure you actually know your wife?” Leo shot back, his words calm yet pointed.
“Alright, Leo. If you truly care about giving your esteemed Alpha guests a better experience, you’d stop
