Chapter 45

Brian’s POV

A few days later, the Alliance Charity Gala finally arrived.

To be honest, I wasn’t happy about it.

According to my original plan, Ashley was supposed to attend with me, And it wasn’t just about public opinion.

She’s got a stunning figure, beautiful features-back at those previous galas, wherever Ashley showed up, she was the center of

attention.

And naturally, I got plenty of the limelight because of her.

These past few days, every time I think about her being with another man, it just drives me mad. Seriously furious.

I held a glass of wine in my hand, with Silvia clinging to my arm.

She had clearly put a lot of effort into her appearance tonight, wearing a pale lavender gown, trying her best to give off a delicate and harmless vibe-like some fragile violet. She stayed close to me, practically glued to my side.

Around us, people were whispering. About Ashley.

Some of them even dared to say that I’d been dumped?

Damn it, Ashley!

That barely contained anger I’d been keeping in check flared up again. But I couldn’t lose it here. I’m the Alpha of the Blackwood Pack. I have to stay composed, stay in control, and show these people my strength.

Bringing Silvia tonight was my silent statement: I, Brian Winter, don’t need a Luna who dares to betray me. “Brian, long time no see.” A refined female voice cut through my thoughts.

It was Fiona, the Luna of the Darkriver Pack. She was dressed in a royal blue gown, her smile carefully measured, though her sharp eyes lingered on Silvia for a split second.

“Fiona,” I nodded, keeping my tone polite and neutral.

Fiona’s gaze shifted back to Silvia, her curiosity barely concealed. “And this is…?”

“This is Silvia,” I replied, my voice calm and composed, each word delivered with precision. “She was once one of the finest warriors of our pack. Besides, she shares a similar, unfortunate childhood with the kids supported by tonight’s charity. No one could be more appropriate to represent our pack’s care for the orphanage.”

I had framed her as a compassionate and sympathetic figure, a perfect spokesperson, rather than introducing her as my partner. The explanation was flawless, leaving no room for doubt.
