Abandoned While Pregnant, Claimed by the Alpha novel Chapter 97

Chapter 97

Hebert’s POV

I carried Ashley out of the basement.

Her body trembled under my suit jacket. Even through the thin fabric, I could feel the cold sweat seeping from her skin

My chest tightened painfully. Guilt and fury tore at me from the inside,

This was my territory.

And yet, right here in the Bloodmoon Pack’s backyard, some filthy rogue wolf dared to lay a hand en my girl.

I wanted to turn around that instant. I wanted to rip the worthless scum slumped in the corner into shreds. But I held myself back. Ashley needed me more.

Her fragile question still echoed in my mind.

Why are you so good to me?

Moon Goddess help me, I almost lost it.

The raging beast inside me clawed violently at my ribs, desperate to burst free.

It roared endlessly, wanting to tell herbecause you’re the one I love.

I love you more than my own life. I want to fuse you into my very soul. I want the entire pack to know that you’re the one true Luna of Bloodmoon.

But I forced those words down and said nothing.

Ashley had just escaped from Brian’s territory. Brian, the arrogant and foolish Alpha of the Blackwood Pack.

He treated this dazzling gem like trash, completely shattering her confidence.

She came here, battered and bruised. All she had for me was wariness and doubt.

The truth is, she doesn’t like menot yet. If I showed even a hint of that possessive Alpha side, it’d scare her off completely. So,

I had to put on this ridiculous mask of calm and control.

Friendsand colleagues.Pathetic excuses to hide how insane I felt inside,

She bought it. Quietly, she leaned against my chest.

But that silenceit pierced me deeper than any blade could.

I carried her into the back seat of the black SUV.

The heater was cranked up to full blast.

Grabbing a clean cashmere blanket, I wrapped her up tightly.

Close your eyes, Ashley. Try to rest.

I started the engine and eased onto the road. The SUV drove smoothly. In the rearview mirror, I saw her curled up on the wide seat. My chest tightened again.

I drove straight to the back gate of Alpha Manor.

Avoiding the prying eyes of the servants and guards, I slipped inside.

I carried her back to the guest room myself and laid her gently on the soft bed.

The inedical team arrived swiftly, carrying their medical kits. I stepped out and leaned against the corridor wall.

The antique clock at the end of the hallway ticked away. It was a full thirty minutes before the doctor came out and told me she’d only suffered some minor injuries and shock. My heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled. I peeked through the slightly open door to take a look at her. She had changed into a clean robe and fallen asleep. Gently, I closed the door.

Then, I turned and headed for the manor’s underground staircase.

With every step I took, the rage simmering inside me grew stronger.

Those who hurt herwould pay in blood.

The air in the dungeon was damp and foul. The torches on the walls crackled as they burned. That scumbag of a rogue wolf was suspended in midair with thick silver chains. His werewolf healing abilities were formidable; the neck bones I had snapped had already started to mend.
