Madeline:
"And you're sneaking out again."
Ron's voice startled me, but I turned around and gave him a look.
"I'm only going out to get herbs for Byron. His fever came back last night."
I avoided meeting Ron's eyes, making it seem natural as I glanced at the weather instead.
The morning was still fresh.
Yesterday had gone very well.
Mathew had told me that Elgin was concerned about Elara, which meant he wouldn't hurt her.
But there was still one problem.
We still hadn't found Bodhi.
We also needed to figure out where Lady Eugenia had taken him.
"By the way, there's some news," I said to Ron.
He stepped onto the cabin's front porch beside me and stared at the monster.
The creature would leave, hunt a few animals, and then return.
"I hope it's good news," Ron commented.
He had been waiting for a chance to get his hands on Lady Eugenia.
At this point, we didn't need justice from any council leader.
We didn't want anyone's help.
We had taken matters into our own hands.
We were going to punish everyone ourselves.
Whether we had proof or not no longer mattered.
All that mattered was knowing who had committed the crime.
"Elgin is marrying Kaylee," I said, watching Ron's eyes widen.
"I should've expected that," he muttered. "These people aren't loyal to anyone."
"But do you know something?" I asked, smiling. "Mathew had recordings of Silver admitting that she sent Robert after me and that she killed Lord William. There was a lot she confessed to. Even an affair. She never named the man, but I think it slipped out at some point."
I watched Ron’s eyes widen in shock.
"I guess we'll have to wait and see the whole video when it goes live."
I smiled widely.
"And let me guess, it was your plan?" Ron asked.
I shrugged proudly.
"Mathew helped a lot. But Elgin probably thinks it's his own idea to use the video on the day he divorces Silver. Little does he know that the idea was planted in his head through Mathew."
I then sighed deeply.
"Anyway, everything's going well. I'm just waiting for it all to unravel. But right now, I need to go."
I gestured with my hand to show him it was urgent.
"Okay, fine. But be careful out there. You never know what kind of psycho is wandering around."
I nodded and headed into the woods, following the trail deeper into the forest.
Ron wasn't wrong.
There were plenty of psychos in this world.
Especially one man who had crossed every possible line.
He had hurt me in every way imaginable.
Everything had started because of Elgin and Graham.
So how could everyone think that just because they had forgotten Graham, I had forgotten him too?
When I reached the open ground, I stopped beside an underground bunker and pulled open the entrance.
