I felt guilty too, especially after Daniel said all those things to me.

"Hello, kid," my mother greeted her. "Come over here and tell me who you are."

She sat down on the couch in the living room and gestured for Gina to come to her.

I gave Gina a small nod, and she walked over to my mother.

My mother smiled as she gently touched her cheek.

"She's so pretty. Who is she?" my mother asked.

I tightened my fist around the pendant as I made the demand.

We had lived in fear for far too long, and I needed answers.

I needed to know why we were so afraid of werewolves.

My mother stared at me for a long moment before slowly sinking back onto the couch.

She looked out the window and pulled her knees to her chest, wrapping her arms around them.

"I was called a whore by the rogue community because I was different," my mother began.

The words alone made my heart sink.

"My mother kept me hidden deep in the woods, away from everyone's eyes. But men like that always found me. Werewolf men, gammas, omegas, they searched for me. She swallowed hard and buried her face in her hands.

"And that is when I met him. My mate."
